Happy (Lesser)Holidays - A Festive MMP

nellie, once the white hair staged a hostile takeover, I went blonde because redheads really don’t grey gracefully. Blonde it will be until there are no longer reddish roots. :stuck_out_tongue:

jane the cane, nellie was right about Lamar Alexander. He visited all 95 counties here in Tennessee in his pickup truck wearing his trademark red / black buffalo plaid flannel shirt during each of his senatorial campaigns and his campaign for governor. While too conservative for my vote, he wasn’t as batshit crazy as many other Tennessee pols.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, I’ll prep the heathen children’s craft (most of the prep is done) for tomorrow and set up the rolly tote. The potluck dish is easy enough to prep in the morning before leaving (brown rice pilaf).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Mine too: I love to cook. But I’m not a chef and never have been, so it’s misleading. I prefer the name I use elsewhere, which is Malamutt, but I’m not changing it here after all these years.

Up, sheveled, now killing time before mowing the lawn. I don’t wanna be that guy who mows at 9 AM on saturday morning. I was ready to start at 8, actually.

My name comes from a job I used to do. A paintcharge is the head painter in a theatre, the “painter in charge.” I don’t do that anymore, but I’ve had the handle for too long to change now.

Afternoon all!

Congrats on the retirement Wet one!

I have been a bad Mumper- I’ve been reading, but even laxer 'n usual about posting. Been getting a bit busy here with skool irk, though I have reached the end of the formal teaching. I also need to arrange a trip up Scotland way to actually look round the place I’m going, and hopefully get somewhere to live sorted.

I actually went to the :flushed: hairdressers :exploding_head: yesterday- this may not sound odd, but it’s a first for me. Literally not had a trim since I was teenage. I lost somewhere around 15" of hair, because it’s been making me, well, even more nuts lately. It’s still pretty long, but I was able to sit on it (and it got caught in doors, etc.). I managed to convince several of my friends that they’d given me a mullet by means of a questionable photoshop.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 46 degrees and raining. The rain will continue all day long. Ugh.

I have my name partly due to frustration and partly due to laziness. When I joined this board, I tried several names and none would work. My neighbor at the time used to call my husband taters, short for the couch potato. He used to like to come home and play computer games and hence the neighbor gave him that name. At any rate, I tried all these variations of parts of my name or even my real name, and they were taken. Thus, I was very uncreative and just tried taters out of desperation and it worked. I have often thought about changing my name, but I’ve had this name since I joined the board in the early 2000s, and I’m not sure people would realize it was me. Very boring.

I went to two nurseries, Lowes, and PetSmart, and grabbed lunch for both me and the husband yesterday. I got soaking wet at the first nursery but accomplished most of my mission. I realized I had forgotten plants for my daughter and stopped at a second nursery. I paid way too much for a flower basket and am really kicking myself over it. Next, I had to get a planter and soil at Lowes, and then off to PetSmart for Greenies for Polar’s teeth.

In a bit, I’ll shower and get ready to meet the family at 11:30.

WetOne, congrats on the retirement! I’m very anxious to follow in your footsteps, though it’s some years away yet…

Sunny, I feel your pain on the mortgage issues. There are hoops within hoops, and they keep coming.
We had our design center meeting last week. The model of our home has a beautiful custom closet… which the builder does not offer! So we instead have a brochure from the company that does it. It will probably not be a priority after we’ve moved, and may never happen.

Back in the early days of tha Intertoobs, I used Wheelz as a handle for a NASCAR fantasy league I was in. Then I started using it for other stuff when I couldn’t be arsed to think up something new. It doesn’t really reflect me IRL, and I thought about changing it a while back, but decided to keep it as a tribute to my late father, who was a big car guy. (My icon is a photo of one of his customizations, a ‘67 Buick Riviera.)

Well done!

My accomplishments so far: I have arisen, put on clothing appropriate for the masses, fed the animals, taken my meds, and made coffee.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Made and consumed home fries, over-easy eggs, and bacon.

Oh, and also put the dishes in the dishwasher, put the cast-iron frying pan back in the oven, and washed the frying pans I used for the potatoes and eggs.

I heaved. I laundered, I had fried eggs and bacon for brunch. I noticed on the way to work that the city had trimmed back the brush near the one culvert, including the bamboo. Which they cut at an angle. Making punji stakes. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: So if I disappear, assume I bought the farm in a Cong ambush. :ninja:

I accidentally grew another tree in a pot the previous tenant left behind.

LMAO

Thanks, guys for sharing those stories! An extra strand of pearls for me, please! Oh, my stars!

I just finished making a bunch of Indian food. I promptly ran to hide while my husband made the roti (flatbread), 'cause there were way too many people in my kitchen.

Hoping to relax today but the girl wants me to swim, which will make me more sore than running will. Oh, well…maybe I’ll earn a nap.

I didn’t go to sleep until after midnight, and I knew I was tired from the week, but I didn’t wake up until 9:00 this morning! :astonished: That’s, like, really late for me. Even more surprising is that the dog didn’t wake me up! I guess I needed the rest, but as a result I feel like the day is going by much too quickly – e.g., it’s 2pm and I haven’t had lunch yet. At least I’ve managed to get a few things done: I paid my bills, balanced my checkbook Quicken, and did some editing for my father (he’s making a brochure for the church he works at). I had 2-3 other things on my list for this morning, but I got distracted when I realized that I hadn’t backed up my hard drive in 10 months. I just finished doing that. I don’t want to put off lunch – or the transition from desk chair to couch – any longer, so I’ve moved the 2-3 other things to tomorrow morning’s (otherwise empty) list.

Now I just have to figure out what I want for lunch! If I feel lazy when I get to the kitchen, I’ll go with a chocolate veggie muffin and some almond crackers. But I might feel like experimenting with a breadless tuna melt: I have some cheese wraps, and last night it occured to me to try putting tuna in one and heating it up a little. Whichever option I don’t choose for lunch, I’ll probably choose for dinner.

Ok, time for the Great Migration to the living room. I’m looking forward to finishing the newest season of Grace & Frankie (Netflix), and I think I’ll also watch some more Severance (Apple+).

I think mine is pretty easy to figure out. My very first screen name – when I was on Yahoo Groups in the late '90s – was “str8frwrd.” I don’t remember why I didn’t go with that when I signed up here in 2004, but I do remember being pleasantly surprised that “Misnomer” was available. Nowadays I use “Misnomer” (or some variation) in most places online.

Was a productive morning. I finished painting the south side of the house, all the ladder bits today. I’m quite happy. Next it’s off the home despot for some plywood and deliver that to the shop, cuz I donwanna do that trek monday morning. Plus a trip to the grocery sto’.

I was feeling lazy this morning. Then, in the middle of writing a post, Mrs. L.A. said she was going down to the beach for a walk. I walked down to where she would park, and arrived just as she pulled up. We walked along the berm, looking at great blue herons, people, and dogs. (Everyone had tiny dogs today.) The round-trip from the car and back was 0.92 miles, which is good for her. She said she can walk farther when I’m with her. She drove home, and I walked up the hill and around the park for a distance of 2.25 miles. She walks slow, so I only averaged 2.36 mph; but it was nice to walk with someone.

Happy Saturday!

It’s a soggy mess outside.
It was a chilly morning at the park, 50 degrees, pouring rain, and wind. Two of the three aren’t so bad, but I was cold, even in a coat.
Temps are supposed to get back down to the 40s this week.
WTF? Just WTF?
I still have my heat turned on, In MAY!

I came home, had some breakfast, and took a long hot bath.
None of my babies follow me into the bathroom. Ripple wasn’t allowed in, and the door was kept shut, after the time he grabbed the end of the toilet paper and ran through the house. Every now and then he’ll walk in when I’m in the tub.
I’m lucky with them not stealing from the table or counters either. Ripple is built like a tank; he’s not jumping up on anything. Echo seems to know better. Adam can get his fat ass up there, but mostly he doesn’t.

I got my name out of frustration. Everything I tried was already taken. I tried the name of a song from the album on my dresser, and it worked.
It’s probably one of my least favorite songs by George Abdo.

I haven’t done anything today. I have laundry that needs to be finished and I don’t want to do it.
I think I’m going to take a nap.

Allie isn’t into people food, so counter theft isn’t a problem with her. Doesn’t seem to be with Buddy, either.

Allie got really irritated during Buddy’s early morning visit. I headed for the bathroom, and he followed me right in. Allie arrived just outside the bathroom door to see he’d gotten there first and looked absolutely outraged. He got some intense hisses when exiting the bathroom, too.

Howdy Y’all! I went and did the things this mornin’. I rewarded myself with some quality cee-mint pond time and day drinkin’. Sup got fixed and et. Such was the day.

Die Happy Doperversary! Also, yay for gettin’ together with irk friends.

Nuts happy new hairdo. The mullet gag made me giggle.

Nettie so much drama from your bathroom escorts!

Mrs. L.A. suggested we go have a beer at Drayton Harbor Oyster Company. I suggested we take the MGB, and she said ‘Good idea.’ I had half an oyster po’boy and some fries, and The Missus had a bowl of oyster stew and some of the fries. We each had a local brew. Then we went to Blaine Bouquets, where she bought some expensive truffles, and then to a place where peopie were selling arts & crafts out of canopies.

Cats do tend to be dramatic people.

nut, I always pictured you with something akin to a pixie cut. You really did have some long tresses.

sari, I’ve turned the heat back on too. This is the first time since moving to middle Tennessee in '95 that I’ve been in a sweatshirt in May. Even when I lived in Indiana, I was usually planting things at this point.

Got the vegetation chopped for tomorrow’s potluck dish, prepped the kid’s craft and started a project in the studio today. Now, I’ll work on that for a bit before kicking back and surfing some more.

Sauerkraut & Polska kielbasa is on the stove. Mrs. L.A. may or may not have some.
