Happy (Lesser)Holidays - A Festive MMP

Like style each other’s hair?

I just fired up the pellet stove again. It’s 49° and rainy and windy and the house has a pervasive chill. We just got home a wee bit ago.

The class has been pretty good for me, but it’s way below FCD’s level of expertise, alas. Plus there’s a guy in the class (isn’t there always one??) who thinks he’s hilarious and he makes inane comments all the freekin’ time. Every time does, FCD and I give each other The Look. Apart from him, it’s an interesting group, and there were several good questions.

Tomorrow will be more hands-on - we’ve got a worksheet and there’s an engine with parts numbered - we have to identify the parts. We’ll also talk about electrical stuff and maintenance schedules. Today’s session ran over by almost 40 minutes - I’m hoping tomorrow ends on time since we want to get as close to Wheeling as possible before we stop for the night tomorrow.

We stopped to eat on the way home - it was a place we’ve dined in the past - sari, you remember Rip’s? - but dang, the prices have really gone up! I didn’t want fast food and definitely didn’t want Applebee’s. So we ate. FCD is running down to get the tag stickers for the HHR from our daughter - they were late renewing them and we were concerned about driving out of state with “expired” tags, even tho we had a temporary registration to cover us. But now we’re good.

I need to pack for the trek to Indy, then chillage will ensue. It’s been a tiring day.

So, Wet one, how was your first official day of retirement? With it being a Saturday, it probably doesn’t feel any different. Monday might be very different!

No doubt! How could you possibly let that interloper horn in on her supervisory role!

Of course you’d get it, hehehe. After I corrupted hubs, we found a self playing sax at a yard sale and hubs morphed into Eddy

After I stopped laughing at your self-realization, I had to wonder what sort of stuff gay men do to each other? Do you paint each other’s nails and do each other’s hair, or just make snippy comments about each others fashion choices? (Hubs doesn’t let me paint his nails, but I do make my own share of snippy comments about his fashion choices.)

Hubs realized last night that he was out of kitty prescription fud so despite our reluctance to go out on the weekends, he figured that as long as he had to go out, he would grab a few things at the grocery store as well. I don’t think he will make that mistake again for a long time.

While he was in the store, a bottle of Prickly Pear margarita mix jumped into his cart and not wanting it to feel lonesome he put some tequila and triple sec in the cart too.

Good job! I always like to get the hard parts done first as well.

I watered the clover today and was thrilled to see butterflies on the flowers. When the whole patch is blooming I get the awesome experience of having a nimbus of butterflies and hummingbirds flying over it. Growing clover is a bigger bother than I thought. Clover improves the soil and I’m constantly fighting invading grasses. Hubs thinks that’s kinda funny because when he was a kid his dad was always fighting the clover in his grass.

Today we delivered a 30 lb bag of cheap kitty kibble to the lady with the cats. She wasn’t home and hubs wanted to just leave the bag on her hidden-from-the-street patio and not say where it came from, but I didn’t want her to worry about possible product tampering, so I messaged her.

Hubs didn’t like that so he changed our chewy order to have her monthly bag shipped to her from now on. Our names won’t be on the box and she shouldn’t have to worry that a sealed product in a sealed shipping container from a big name company was tampered with. He’s a pretty smart guy when it comes to getting his way!

Abbey styled my hair last night.

I’ll bet it looks fabulous!

Well, I did have a shower today…

But I love it when Abbey grooms me. :smiley_cat:

Afternoon/Evening all. A rather so-so day crusing up to Ketcihakan, Alaska, it’s too cool to go swimming or do anything outside, so went to a couple lectures, played Blackjack at the Casino (down $50) and ate. Did see a whale (well, part of a whale…for 5 seconds) near the ship, more are promised. We will see.

Have read all and retained little so I’ll hold off replies until sometime later, but all y’all take care now.

I’ve had a couple of ginnintonics. I looked at Tonka’s urn tonight, with his picture on it. Feeling a bit weepy. We adopted him when he was eight, and every day made sure he knew we loved him.

Those furry lil jerks just don’t live long enough, do they?

The Best Cat in the World would hear me stirring in the morning and run in to curl up on my pillow and purr his heart out when he saw me looking at him. He lived to breath the same air as me. Yeah, I’m tear eyed right now as well.

Had a mint julep. watched the Derby upset, Made Asian BBQ stirfry with peppers, onions, and mushrooms.

They do worm their way into our hearts, don’t they. {{{{Flyboy}}}}

I got a later start than I wanted on my hike today because I had a hair appointment. My hair looked uncharacteristically fabulous for almost a mile before it got spanked with rain and soft hail. I did 7.5 miles and would have gone further if I could have started earlier. So now I have a goal for one day next week.

Am I the only one that who gets anxious when people come up from behind? (For me, it dates back to the assault .) Since I’m only 5’2, most people can walk faster than I and catch up with me at some point. A tall guy came up from behind me today, and my heart raced. I stepped aside to let him pass. He seemed like a pleasant enough fellow. I wonder if he could tell I was afraid. Do most people get nervous when someone comes up behind them on a trail or sidewalk?

I took a hot bath and am now in bed, watching the sky darken. It’s very soothing.

swampy, you and OYKW are a match made in Heaven.

jane the cane, yay for butterflies! And yay for thoughtful people like you and hubs.

FCM, safe travels, and I hope the 'laws don’t drive you batty.

nut, congrats on the trim!

Shear genius.

After the tree sex comment, I did momentarily read this incorrectly.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by bein’ bears who brunch as we were again invitated to Stonebridge. Nappage and much sloth shall follow that. Any other need to feed will be via forage.

Let your minds go wild re the gay men stuff OYKW and I do to each other. The good thing about it is it could be anything from down right dirty, to down right silly, to down right bitchy.

MOOOOOOM glad y’all are enjoyin’ the class in spite of Mr. Annoyin’. Have a safe and uneventful trip to fetch the inlaws.

MetalMouse yay for the glimpse of a whale. I would be all excitated over that! Here’s hopin’ you get to see a bunch more.

Jane The Cane yay for butterflies. The yahd in the house I grew up in was covered in clover.

Nellie that sounds like quite a hike to me. Hearin’ someone come up from behind on a hikin’ trail would probably squick me out a little bit.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all! Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers of various earthly creatures!

{{{flyboy}}}

Happy mother’s day to all of you mumper moms!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and have the pilaf on for the potluck. Other than heathenating, nothing much is planned for the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Sadly the attempt to convince the friend currently on holiday in France that I’d attempted to drunkenly fix the mullet and wound up with a buzzcut failed…

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s 48 degrees(Amurikin) and cloudy outside. Mother Nature has done the Time Warp back to February, apparently.

You have a filthy mind, and I love you for it.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

Good morning everyone.

It’s sunny outside, so I’ll need to get out and get that lawn mowed before the rain moves in.

I enjoyed lunch with the kids and grandkids yesterday; my mother, not so much and I’ll leave it at that.

I took care of my laundry Friday and yesterday, and other than mowing, I don’t have to do any chores so I can just relax today.

nellie, I don’t like people coming up behind me anywhere, be it on a trail, sidewalk, or even indoors. In fact, I always set my office so that I’m facing the door and when I go out to eat, I try to sit facing the door. I must have been a gangster in a previous life, lol! Seriously, I just don’t like people behind me or coming up behind me. I feel vulnerable and I don’t like it.

Wishing all those who are mothers or play motherly roles a very happy Mother’s Day!

Thanks! I feel better now that I know I’m not alone. I’ve felt self-conscious and silly when I’ve stopped to let someone pass me. No more.

It’s a gorgeous, sunny day here–at last! I’m going to walk to the store in a bit to get a few provisions. I could have them delivered, but as Moooom has pointed out, food prices have skyrocketed, and adding delivery fees and tip, and I’d rather haul 'em myself.

Mother’s Day always reminds me of the time I told my kids not to send me any gifts for Mother’s Day. They were both broke college students, and I didn’t want them spending the money, so I told them to toast me and their MIL’s instead. I was surprised and perplexed when I got a package from my son and DIL. It turned out to be a framed photo of them toasting me (with diet cola). I love that photo.

doggio, love that cartoon!

Taters, I love to mow. If it’s sunny where you are, I hope you can relax in a hammock with a glass of iced lemonade when you’re done. Sorry about the unpleasant time with your mom.

If at first you don’t succeed…This is too good to give up because of one savvy friend.

I love this line!

Is there a way to be upright dirty? Note: not being dirty while upright. I’m sure you two have got that down pat…not that you’re patting down…or up. Help.

I am the same way with people coming up behind me. From childhood abuse PTSD.

Sometimes in the grocery store when people sidle up behind me too close for comfort I want to turn around and bark at them “back off!”, but I don’t. I’m the person hugging the back wall of the elevator.

Grey, gloomy, cold, drizzly here. My grandma play day with the grands has been canceled. Both their preschool and daycare centers have been closed by covid positives in teachers and kids and we are playing it safe because of my age and health. No symptoms in my grands or their parents, knick on :wood:. They are holding their breath because they are supposed to leave for a month in Paris and Milan in two weeks. I have been assured that they are carrying good travel insurance on all their plans.

Gradually making plans with my sister in Iowa for the two of us to do a mini-vacation together while my grands are gone. Really looking forward to that-haven’t seen her in person since before Covid 2020. It was December 2019 I think. Nothing fancy, tooling around historic sites and museums in Iowa probably, Maybe a few days in a cabin in a state park. Something to look forward too.

Yay!

In a little while, I’ll put a tray of cream cheese biscuits in the oven. Later today we’re having family dinner at my folks house.

Happy Family Day everyone! You are all wonderful and I’m glad to spend time with you so often.

And we are so glad to spend time with you!
