Last Saturday I had to wait 44 minutes for a bus in the pouring rain. (Arrived at the stop at 3:03, buses were supposed to arrive at 3:07 and 3:37, no bus showed up until 3:47.)
I filled in the complaint form on their website asking for an explanation for why that bus did not show up. What I got back was:
“On behalf of the Fairfax Connector, I would like to apologize for the level of service you experienced recently. Please contact me at your convenience at xxx-xxx-xxxx to discuss this matter further. Your case number for this matter is xxxxx.”
Well, I don’t a damn form letter and I don’t want to talk to anyone on the phone, I want a WRITTEN fucking explanation, because I’m goddamn tired of this happening over and over and never knowing why. If they don’t want to tell me in the email, I have to assume that the real reason is something they wouldn’t want to put down in writing: for example, the driver just blew off work that day for the hell of it and they didn’t bother scheduling any backups.
Wow, Neidhart, that’s terrible. I can understand, because I use buses all the time and it’s a pain when they don’t show up. I’ve had some bad experiences with buses near my school. Doesn’t help that my school is right smack in the middle of nowhere with not too many buses near it (and the nearby buses only come every half hour, when you’re lucky.)
Thank you TWC for thinking of me as a valued long-time customer and thus letting me keep a “special” rate that only raises my bill by $12 a month. How lucky I am to be your customer!
On a related note, fuck you AT&T. A month or so ago, I checked and U-verse was available at my address. I didn’t pull the trigger at that time because I didn’t know my work schedule. Yesterday I am ready to give TWC the old heave-ho and now all of a sudden only phone and internet are available at my address. WTF?!
TokyoBoy just discovers that new hardwood floors are slicker than what we have at the old house.
Five stitches later, he’s good.
But, on the way down to the hospital, Wife is freaking out and taking it out on me. Why did we take them up to see the new house so late at night? (8:00 isn’t late.)
I guess somehow I’m to blame for the kid’s spinout and hitting his chin on the stairs.
Normally, she’s really good. I guess just nerves. Still, I’m doing my best to act as nonchalant about a fairly deep cut to keep him calm. (Hey, guess what? Today, you get to see a doctor, isn’t that going to be fun?)
And having to field complaints about things I’m not responsible for didn’t help.
Tell him that scars make him look tough. Problem solved, one of the rare advantages to testosterone poisoning. Good precaution is to mention how the soft guys don’t understand that, and maybe lets keep this conversation just between us guys, no need to burden your Mom with it.
Might want to mention that one good scar is probably enough.
Badly-edited books. I was reading an otherwise very good book, when instead of “dawdle”, typed on the page was “doddle”. I’d think even a spell-checker would catch that! Also, it’s not “wa-la”, it’s the French “voila”. I expect that on the internet, but not in a book!
Oh, I just love moving. Smashed the snot out of my finger while helping to guide the safe through the doorway. Forgot to remove my rings before moving stuff. Luckily for me, my husband was able to find some snips and cut my squished ring off before my finger swelled too much, and I found the emerald. But, my poor ring: it was a mother’s ring, chosen for me by my stepsons. My finger will heal, but I’m afraid the jewelry is unsalvagable.
That was my son’s decision when he cut his forehead… at the age of four. ER Doc says “Now, I can call in a plastic surgeon and make sure there’s no sca…”“NO, I like the scar!”
Even as an adult, he still thinks it looks cool to have a Heidelberg dueling scar leaving a gap in his eyebrow.
People who fix holes in walls badly then paint over them need to stop doing that. It’s so much easier to fix a hole than to scrape off a painted-over lump. Grr. Argh.
And people who paint over wallpaper, curtain/blinds hardware, and/or outlet covers ought to be sentenced to hard labor. Like removing painted-over wallpaper or screws that are gooped up with paint.
That really is one of my major peeves. I send emails to authors to tell them what has been done in the editing/printing process. I also send emails complaining when they get facts wrong. In fiction books.:smack:
DANG for you. Moving truly does suck. It doesn’t matter how much you want to be where you are moving to, the process just sucks big time. Could a jeweler maybe make the face of the ring into a necklace?
I hope this is the biggest disaster of the move.
Our new cat is about a year old. He’s buddies with our house feral, he ignores our dog and happily romps and stomps with our big, aggressive cat. He’s terrified of our mellow 8 or 9 year-old de-clawed, half his mouth shot off cat.
If this is the level of George’s ability to judge threats, its amazing that he survived on the streets for even a day.
Yup. I just spent the afternoon removing all those things and filling holes. Next I tape over the stuff I don’t want to get paint on. Doing things right is haaaa-aaard!
I haven’t moved - we’re just fixing the place up. It started with painting a bathroom, and you know how it goes - the whole main floor should be done by the end of January.
The show runners of Doctor Who, House, Supernatural, (endless list) would like you to stop sending them regular letters about how their entire show (and show Universe) is wrong.
Would somebody please explain to me why I keep getting phone calls from people who want me to sell my time share to them? I don’t have a time share. I have never had a time share. I keep telling these people I don’t have a time share. Why can’t they get it through their pointy little heads?
Someone did that in our current place. I’m not going to fret too much about the damage I inadvertently did to the paint around a heating register (and we’re talking what must have been years or decades worth of paint layers, because how often do people repaint ceilings?) when popping open that register revealed a nice big gap between the duct and the opening, which I patched up. I also used some spackle to begin the process of evening out the paint again, which I’ll sand down and repaint later.
I know I’m going to want to check out the other registers, so I’m nervous not only about how many will have the same gaps, but also how many will end up bringing down hunks of paint in the process.
And of course all the outlet (except for the GCFIs) and most of the switch covers were painted over as well. :smack:
