Happy smoke free anniversary to me

I didn’t smoke for the 1st 18 years (but lived in a house of smokers).

Then I did smoke for the next 18 years.

Today it’s been 15 years since my last cigarette.

Yay me.

Congratulations. I have tried to quit at least a dozen times. I have alot of respect for anyone who is able to quit successfully. Good Job.

Congrats, fella. I hear that nicotine is one of the hardest drugs to kick. That says something about you.

Way to go! Why and how did you quit?

Why? Honestly, it was too expensive. The logical part of my brain knew that it was bad for me, but that wasn’t enough. I got tired of paying whatever the going rate was (I think $2+ a pack).

How? Cold turkey. I think it helped that I quit at the beginning of a vacation trip to California so I was out of my element for a week or so and wasn’t able to fall back into an old habit.

Well, hey, go you [pats Ferd on back].

I spend three nights a week selling cigarettes to people who say, variously, “Gimme Lights, I’m trying to quit”, or, “Gimme menthol, 'cause I hate those and I’m trying to quit”, or, “$3.99 a pack? Man, I really gotta quit”, as they dig into their wallet.

So, you did it. You are one up on all those folks.

Well done!
