Happy Subanniversary!

Nen has eloped, and he mentioned something that I think deserves more attention:

I’m sure the first weeks and months ought to be observed, but how? You’ve just been married, and a lot of folks (theoretically, anyhow) have given you gifts (such as the legendary multiply-redundant toaster), so you really don’t need specific household things, yet. Besides, during the first year, you probably want romantic gifts of little intrinsic value, but great sentimental symbolism.

I have taken the liberty of suggesting a few items below. Note, I had to make this all up, and since I’ve been drinking in their honor…

Week:[ul]1) Chewing gum.
2) Ham sandwiches (you may substitute roast beef if you keep kosher).
3) Fried chicken.[/ul]
After the third week it becomes monthly, and the order these observations take place in are subject to debate (I haven’t got time to really do this right, so I call upon others to fill in the blanks, suggest a different order, and :[ul]1)Inexpensive knicknacks (ex: A HotWheels™ car for him, preferably a car he will now very likely never be able to afford, and perhaps one of those little crystal and pewter figurines for her. Yes, her gift is more expensive. Get used to it guys!)
2) Dinner at a restaurant where you can’t get in without reservations, and he has to wear a suit and tie.
3) A romantic dinner prepared by her (he provides the wine).
4) A romantic dinner prepared by him (she provides the antacid and/or beer, and some charcoal, depending on how good a cook he really is).[/ul]

[I ran out of ideas about there. IRL, I observed our monthly anniversary with one rose per month we had been married, saving the first full dozen for our one-year anniversary. How come individual roses are a buck apiece, but as soon as they’re wrapped up in a dozen they cost like nobody’s business?]

After the eleventh month you revert to the traditioinal year-by-year anniversary lists published by the good folks at expensive jewelry stores, etc.

So… What do you suggest for the first 3 weeks +11 months prior to the first anniversary?
