I’m sure there’s a thread like this already, but I didn’t see it (no I didn’t search).
Anyway, I just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving fellow Dopers. I hope you’re in an enjoyable place, enjoying a great meal with those that you love.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!!
BTW, where is Miles. It’s a holiday, and I’d hope that he was not couped up in his box sitting on a post office shelf somewhere. Is he having a white Christmas in Canada with matt_mcl still? Or is he on his way to Baker back in the US??
Don’t eat too much everybody!!
A few merkans have wished me HTG without seeming to know that we don’t celebrate it here.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Today, the thing I am most thankful for is the life of my maternal grandmother. She’s hard of sight and hearing, and needs a walker, but is in fine mental fettle, and tomorrow we have the first of two birthday parties for her. My grandma, Esther Lura Kasson Leitz, will be
100 YEARS OLD!!!
Thank you God for all the years I have known her!
Oh, and I don’t have a lock on Miles, although I did some serious groveling to matt_mcl when I saw that Miles was visiting him. Pssst, matt, I was serious about the cooky offer. Ask KC area Dopers, I’m a passable baker ya know. If Miles shows up in Topeka I will announce it!
And in another thread I pointed out to you why you should .
Well, for me it’s another Thanksgiving away from the family. No big deal to me, though, so long as I can go home for Christmas. I was going to volunteer at the Boise Rescue Mission, but by the time I called they were full for volunteers.
The chow hall here always has a decent deal for Thanksgiving. Today they had prime rib and turkey, all the traditional Thanksgiving food. Also, a lot of the high-ranking officers and their wives come to work the serving line for a while. My squadron commander happened to be there, with his wife. I mentioned that I ran him over the previous day during our little squadron LAN party (Battlefield 1942-Desert Combat if you’re curious), and complemented his wife on the cookies she had made (soft, spiced chocolate-chip cookes… delicious).
All in all, not a bad way to celebrate Thanksgiving. And if it goes anything like last year, the chow hall will have leftover shrimp cocktails for days.
Happy Birthday to your grandmother, **Baker.
Tentacle Monster**, I’m sorry you’re away from home.
Happy ~~~ Thanksgiving all!
