Whoa.
Is it just me, or do the previews for “Hardball,” the new Keanu Reeves movie, look exactly like the plot of “The Mighty Ducks” transferred to baseball? You’re got the reluctanct coach, the bad little-league team, and the kids that hate him at first but then come to love Unca Keanu.
Sure, there are some twists, like the focus on inner-city kids, but please, can’t people just think up an original idea already? Reeves should just stick to “The Matrix” movies.
A movie with this plot was already made. It goes by the name The Bad News Bears.
The Mighty Ducks and a host of other kids sports movies all stole the premise from TBNB.
That’s nothing. An even worse ripoff is “The Big Green,” which is “Mighty Ducks” with soccer. Not only is the plot the same, but soccer and hockey are so fundamentally similar, that most of the minute details were ripped off as well.
And they were both Disney films. I guess if you need money badly, you just steal one of your old ideas.
