Hardened subcutaneous tissue forms under site of recenty-popped pimple. What is it?

The subject line pretty much says it all. I had a pimple on my left cheek (near the corner of my mouth) that I popped two or threee times. On top of that, shaving tended to ablate it some more.

Now the pimple is nearly healed and gone, but there is an area of hardened tissue below the skin just above where the pimple was. It’s roughly the diameter of a nickel, and feels sort of like an uncooked lima bean was inserted under the skin of my cheek.

The lima-bean area has been there abour three days now. It apppeared suddenly – literally overnight. Right now, it is far less tender than it was when it first erupted. Hopefully, it is on its way to healing.

What the heck is it?

I forgot to mention – the skin over the “lima bean” is not discolored in any way. Also, the “lima bean” does not rise above skin level – it is not a visible bump. Outwardly, my cheek appears normal.

Yeah, it happens to the best of us. I believe it is a sebaceous cyst. - Jinx

Weeee! I’m in with the “Best of us” crowd. I second the cyst. I had one removed one that was at my belt line. 4 years ago, and it still looks like a bruise. You’re pretty much stuck with it. Enjoy it, name it, get to know it. It has friends, and they’ll be arriving shortly.

It’s pretty dang-burned annoying. I’ll probably elect to have it surgically removed at some point in the near future.
