Harris and Walz win; what will be your first reaction?

Me?

Trump, you lost; get over it.

Fat chance of that, I know.

Tears of joy.

My blood pressure dropping to a normal range.

Being able to sleep through the night without anxiety.

Stop looking online for condos in Portugal.

My first reaction will be to hope the violence is kept to a minimum. Because he and his supporters are not going to go away quietly.

Relief. I know it’ll take years to fix things, but I’ll feel an immediate sense of relief that we dodged a bullet this time.

An enormous sigh of relief. No we haven’t cured fascism, but we eradicated one of the most dangerous symtoms.

Another vote for “relief.”

Whew!

Same.

What about looking for how one can support migrants in your community?

If Trump does win, this is an opportunity to do something one will be quietly proud of for the rest of their life.

However, if you are at unusually high risk of persecution under a Trumpist regime, I apologize for this post.

Hoo-fucking-ray

First reaction:
“Huh, there you go; not surprising. Anyway, I have a work or family issue that is currently more pressing.”

An enormous sigh of relief.

Followed by an all-too-familiar worry about what comes next. What will be the next threat the fascist Trump and his minions present to freedom and the rule of law?

A Harris win just means the country didn’t lose at that particular point. It’s living to fight another day. This particular plague isn’t going to be eradicated swiftly or without a lot of pain.

How about you mind your own damn business? I don’t have to justify my choices to you or anyone else. In short, I refuse to live under a Facist regime.

I’ll be checking to how big the margin of victory is - the smaller the margin, the greater chance of public tantrums like J6. A bigger margin may quiet all but the most rabid of his supporters. For now. I hope.

There are two possibilities among Trump and his followers:

“The margin of victory is tiny, that proves it was rigged!”

or

“The margin of victory is huge, that proves it was rigged!”

My thoughts exactly.

I will reserve all reaction until Harris and Walz are sworn into office.

This, exactly, for me.

That was even true when he “won” in 2016.

My reaction will be trepidation, because I expect that Republican officials will interfere with certifying the vote.

Ditto. And maybe for a couple months afterward even.

(For the record, I’m still expecting Trump to win, by hook or by crook. A Harris victory would be a surprise for me — pleasant, but only brief, because the ratfuckery will escalate dramatically.)
