Harrison Ford's Latest Movie

Didn’t K19 look better back when it was called The Hunt For Red October ?

Is this a joke? K19 is based on an actual event from 1961 and the potential nuclear disaster was real.

Be nice, Jeff.

Aside from the fact that one movie is based on a real event and the other is based on a Tom Clancy novel, the films do look similar. I don’t know enough about K19 to really make a judgment on it, though.

[Not nice]
Harrison Ford has been making the round of all the talk shows, and he keeps pronouncing it, “noo-kyoo-ler.”
What a moron.

Oh be nice! Proper spelling and pronunciation doth not a genius make.

An episode of History Channel’s “Inside the Soviet Military Machine” series focuses on the K-19. I think it was on yesterday afternoon but I forgot to watch it.

I watched it last night. Very interesting. It must have been hell serving on that sub, since it was rushed into production before even the most rudiementary safety features were added…I’m actually looking forward to the movie (if I remember to schlep on over to the theater while it’s still running).

Haven’t seen the movie, but I do know that the Russians are threatening to sue over historical innacuracies. The Russian advisers to the film are very pissed off at the script and the final product. They feel that the Hollywood nature of the film has taken so many liberties and distorted the truth so badly that to call it “historical” is a considerable stretch.

I heard that the Russians were upset as well. What I heard was they thought the film portrayed them as drunks. I didn’t think the film made them look like drunks.
Can somebody explain why K-19 is called that? The sub had 237 (or some number like that) on the conning tower. So why call it K-19?
