Wow. Really can’t wait to see the film now!
Oh, yay! Anybody else with better picture quality want to help pick this apart?
So all the Tom Riddle stuff is obvious, but what’s the running through the fields stuff?
And what’s going on with Ginny? Is that supposed to be the attack on Hogwarts?
And I guess that’s Ron being poisoned…
You want it, you got it.
Yeah - why is she in her bathrobe?
Thanks, sorry. I couldn’t access the HD trailers so I just linked the regular one.
My guess would also be the attack on Hogwarts towards the end of the book. This occurs late at night. I can’t think of any other scenes where she’d be wearing a bathrobe, unless it’s an early scene when Harry and co. are still at the Burrow?
Also, the shot towards the end of Dumbledore surrounded by fire must be the cave scene. I think it’s going to be awesome and terrible and scary. I hope the movie does it justice.
Wow. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, and it didn’t disappoint.
Yeah, but doesn’t it look like she’s standing in a field? I guess there could be all kinds of explanations for that…
Yeah, I noticed that. Could be near the Burrow, isn’t it pretty isolated, on a hill or something? Guess we’ll find out for sure in November.
I wonder if the flashes of Voldemort are a reference to this trailer.
Is the revelation that the kid is Tom Riddle a mini-spoiler? I thought that wasn’t revealed right away.
I think the real spoiler is that the Half-Blood Prince is actually Snape. The little kid being Voldemort is fairly intuitive.
Thoughts:
-
Those Pensieve vials look uncomfortably like needles of heroin to me. Dumbledore, why are you giving Harry Potter the drugs?
-
I miss the flamboyant purple suit.
-
I see Fenrir in the wheatfields, but who’s he chasing?
-
I have to go into a corner and squee quietly to myself now.
Well the link doesn’t work for me in the UK
Schweeeet.
Can’t wait.
Have to re-read HBP.
That’s… ironic.
Anyway, what Ginny in a bathrobe? I’ve watched it three times, twice to get the effect of the trailer and the third looking for it because I was certain I was crazy after reading the thread. Is it that blink-and-you’ll-miss-it screen right at the beginning? Because it’s almost pitch black to me and I can’t make anything out.
Ginny appears about 1.05 in, amongst the shots in a field.
Looks exciting! If I recall, the book was a good 80% flashbacks. Hopefully the film can pull that off in an interesting way. I think it can be done.
For those having problems with the trailer, I think it’s already on youtube, and muggle.net has a bunch of screenshots. Or you could just go to the apple store and watch it on their cinema display as I did with the Watchmen trailer
Deathly Hallows however is bound to be a massive undertaking (even split into two films as they are doing). Of course, if they cut out all of the wandering around in the woods for months doing nothing but reenacting the temptation of the one ring, and all the Goblin copyright metaphor nonsense, they’ll be on track…
I really don’t care why Ginny is in a bathrobe… I’m just glad she is.
I guess Lil’Voldemort is Ralph Fiennes 10 year-old nephew. Plays it nice and spooky.
I like Voldemort’s 1940s appearance better in this than I did in Chamber of Secrets, where the late lamented Richard Harris of Blessed Memory looked just like he did in dotage but with redder hair. (Otherwise there’s no comparison in characterizations: Harris wins hands down- more of a twinkle in his eye.)
Though I’ve always liked Jim Broadbent I was a bit disappointed at his casting as Slughorn. The role seemed almost written for Ian McNeice. Perhaps they didn’t want to invite comparison twixt him and (fellow morbidly obese Brit actor) Richard Griffiths (an actor I really wish would lose weight as I love his work [History Boys especially] and he looks miserable- last time I saw him on an awards show he required a cane).
Cool. I may like Harris’ replacement after all. I can’t imagine why Ginny is in her bathrobe, but I haven’t read the book in awhile. I think Fenrir is chasing the child Lupin, no?
