IANA ex-con or other expert in prison life; however, my WAG is that mistreatment of children and mistreatment of women are seen as two very different things in that context. All prisoners were children once and I’d guess a disturbingly high percentage of them had abusive childhoods, their hatred of those who abuse children being linked to their own horrific experiences. Conversely, none (or virtually none) of them have been women, and I’d guess a disturbingly high percentage of them are or have been horrible to women themselves even if that’s not what they’re in prison for. You’re assuming a level of empathy unconnected to personal experience that I suspect is rare amongst convicted felons.
Hell, getting away with forcing an untold number of attractive Hollywood starlets to have sex with him might make him a hero among some prisoners.

Having heart palpitations and elevated blood pressure while on your way to prison after just having been convicted of sex crimes doesn’t seem all that implausible, to be honest. I bet they took him to Bellevue out of an abundance of caution, especially with him being so high profile.
I think it rather unlikely that Weinstein will be placed in a prison with them.

Completely disproportionate. People have been given less for murder. The casting couch has often been a 2-way street and many an actress (and actor) in the past has driven it to stardom. The fact is that although a creep Weinstein was a great producer and that is one thing that cannot be taken away from him. I’m not saying he didn’t deserve jailtime but 23 years is ludicrous and I hope it gets cut on appeal.
He wasn’t sentenced for his creepy behavior. If it was just at the level of him saying “If you want this role, give me a BJ”, then he wouldn’t have gone to jail. The sentence was for the rapes and sexual assaults he did. Those are not in the realm of inappropriate casting couch behavior.
If NY thinks he can get a longer sentence in LA they might very well send him there.
