Has a GQ post ever made it to The Straight Dope Column?

The question above. Has a MB post been so original or thought provoking for it to actually get published?

I think the question answered in this column was originally posted in GQ, though for the life of me I can’t find the thread now.

There’ve been several questions that showed up in GQ before they appeared as columns. One I remember was a question about the consistency of the bad side of town. There have been others - I’ll look whenever search starts working again.

One person started such a thread and has both the thread and column in his/her sig. I don’t know who, and I don’t think you can search for sigs, but keep an eye out- I’ve seen it quite often.

Ed Zotti himself (who I believe is a very, very close confidante of The Perfect Master) posted the GQ referenced by Ringo above here http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7499&pagenumber=1

This one was a SDMB question first. It even says so in the column. I remember the thread.

What?! I did? Woohoo!
I must find this!

A search of Google for columns including the string via the Straight Dope Message Board turned up 14 hits. Some of these are follow-ups which probably came from CoCC and not GQ. There may be more that do not include reference to the message board. My Staff Report about the possibility of Vikings having lived in Cambridge, Mass., was in answer to a GQ question, but the report is not marked as such. I think the original GQ thread got lost in one of the upgrades.

Since this is a question about this message board, I’ll move this thread to ATMB.
