Has a Mod ever created a thread to pit a member?

I’m new around here, so I don’t know if this has ever been asked and I didn’t quite know how to go about doing a search for this info. But do you know if it has happened…has a Mod ever created a thread (in the BBQ Pit of course) to pit a member? (I hope this is where this kind of question gets asked, if not, I hear it will be moved. lol. And I’m not asking to have it done to me, as a first, as an example, whatever; I was just curious (and couldn’t sleep dammit.) )

Yogini

Yes, but if I recall, they were acting as a regular member and not a mod.

Unfortunatly, I don’t remember the details. It may have been Coldfire. Crap. I’m really striking out in GQ lately.

Anyhow - maybe someone else remembers the thread I’m thinking of?

Oh, and speaking purely as a member, and not in any way, shape or form as a mod, your sig is too long.

4 lines max. Just a friendly FYI.

Someone else mentioned that to me - and I asked how to make the font smaller so it wouldn’t appear so big. Can you help with that? If not, I’ll have to amend my profile shortly as I’m sure it will be commented on more frequently (and not so nicely…depending on the member! lol!) Thanks.

Changing the font won’t matter - it still takes up too much bandwidth, and our poor overworked hamsters are forced to do overtime.

Currently, your sig reads as 8 lines (including spaces, and yes, I believe they count) on my screen. You’ll probably have to ditch one of your longer quotes.

Perhaps you could just rotate them and have one at a time up?

C K Dexter Haven–an administrator–pitted Persephone, IIRC.

While what Alice_in_Wonderland said probably has a major bearing on the rule (I think both appearance and bandwidth considertions are factors in the four-line max. rule), what you ask about can help if a sig line wraps with only a few words on the second line, and is useful in other circumstances as well. To shrink your text, you type (size=1) before the material to be shrunk and (/size) after, of course using square brackets where I used parentheses.

Here’s text in normal (size=2) size.
Here’s text in reduced (size=1) size.
Here’s text in large (size=3) size.
Here’s text in giant economy (size=4) size.

Somewhere in the dim recesses I think I can recall the thread that alice mentioned. I think Coldfire pitted bj0rn.

Thank you Polycarp for that info.

I wonder if anyone will have any links to any threads? (I was just given the link recently to an old thread created by Cervaise, a member not a Mod, about telemarketers that was hilarious!)

And wasn’t that a fun experience. :shivers:

Manhattan pitted Bosda once, a while back. I don’t remember if it was before he was a mod or not. Something about the crime rate of New York compared to Murfreesboro, TN.

OneYogini, questions about the message board (it’s rules, people, culture, software, etc.) belong in About The Messsage Board. I’ll move this for you to ATMB.

Please reduce the length of your signature to 4 lines or less (including spaces). We request members to do this in order to save on bandwidth and load on our servers. We do our best to make the boards faster to access, and appreciate the support of our members in this regard.

Thank you for your cooperation and welcome to the boards.

I suggest you rotate your signature, changing every couple of weeks. It can get pretty boring reading the same quote week after week.

Yeah, like me.

Subsequent to the events described above, we changed the rules for Moderators to prohibit them from starting a thread that pits a member.

Since no one wants to rake up all those now-dead incidents, and since the question has been answered (it is no longer permitted), I’m closing this one.
