I have a laptop and a desktop, both running Windows 7 Home Premium. Both are members of the same Workgroup. Both are memebers of the same Homegroup. I can see each computer from the other in the Homegroup. I can see the shared libraries in the Homegroup for each computer. But I cannot open any of the libraries. I click on them, but nothing happens; no window, no error message, nothing. I can open the Public folders on both computers, just not the Homegroup libraries.
I have uninstalled all antivirus, and disabled all firewalls. No joy.
I googled the problem, and found lots of other people with the problem, but no solutions. Has anyone gotten Homegroups to work the way Microsoft claims?
I just went through a full day screwing around with this. I finally managed to share a public folder, but the folder I wanted to share so I could copy over around 4 Gig of files.
I still wound up copy/paste into the public folder, then again from the public folder into the destination computer.
Doesn’t seem to work at all like it is advertised.
FWIW, One of the helpful things I read told me that Win 7 Home premium does not support the Homegroup.
However, the old Vista box, will still log me in and allow me access to my desktop and all my files. So I am keeping that one around for awhile.
