Has anyone else started christmas shopping yet?

I have both nephews done, one neice, most of the stuff for the boys, from me and from Santa. I am having a friend shoot some candids of my boys with my brothers kids to have enlarged and framed for my Mom/stepdad and my dad/stepmom. I bought a drinking bird on ebay for dad, and I am getting a lovely crystal candle holder for Mom. That leaves Angkins, her daughter and one neice left.

I have a feeling that since I was such a clever girl to get done early …santa will be bringing me some stuff too

Has anyone else started yet?

I feel like a nut, xmas shopping before Halloween! I will probably just end up spending more in the long run too… when I have money I will pick up more stuff, even after I am done.
Merry Christmas!

Yes. And I bought my Christmas cards yesterday.

sigh It’s only because I hate dealing with the malls as Christmas gets closer and closer.

I hate people like you two !

I often fantasize that I have a running chainsaw as I meander through the malls - that would make them move!!

My usual time to start Christmas shopping is around the 22nd. I agree with Ayesha.

[sub] ok, so I’m one of the really obnoxious ones[/sub]

It’s pretty much done. Usually by this time I’ve got some if not most of the packages sent off (but not this year). I HATE shopping in crowds. HATE going to the mall any time in December. I like having it all done.

Also, I really work at finding different things for folks - tough to do if you’re waiting til December 23.

please don’t hate me…

No, just kidding! I envy you, really.

I try so hard to be organized, and get things done early, but I invariably end up getting the bulk of my Christmas shopping done during the month of December.

This yeaar I’m making stuff, though, and I actually have begun work on that. I have a lot of people on my list, though, so there’s no doubt that I’ll be just finishing up on December 24th. Sigh.

I’m pretty much done because I have to mail everything so I usually send it off in early November. All I have left is to finish my son, which is an ongoing thing right through December.

Congrats on getting so many things done early, kelli.

I avoid Christmas shopping until the last minute because for me it’s, to paraphrase the old rhyme, “the most, sad-en-ing time, of the yeeeeeear”.

I will probably alleviate some of this by shopping online, in the next few weeks, however.

let’s see…

…yep, I’m a guy- chance of shopping in OCTOBER for Christmas - 1 %.

Haven’t done any.

I’ve started, but I’m also shopping for a huge number of people on not much money. And it’s so much more fun when you run across stuff, rather than desprately hunting stuff down on the 22nd.

This is the first year I wont be giving anything homemade - I just havnt had the energy :frowning:

And, while I would like to be as organized as I appear to be from my OP, I only got the shopping done early beacuse the insurance money for my car damage was more than what it cost me to fix <sheepish>

Honestly, I find if you start early, you spend more somehow…impulse items closer to xmas I suppose.

Hey, I used to be a Dec 24th shopper and not a day earlier. Now I make most of the gifts, so I start thinking in October about what artsy-crafty thing to do for everyone. I start making in November. It allows for family time together as we work on the projects. I guess I started on the homemade gifts when I burned out on the commercialism of Christmas.

I don’t think I’ll buy anyone presents this year. I feel like being a scrooge. evil laughter

My friends forgot my birthday, so I feel vengeful.

Actually I just buy things throughout the year if it catches my eye and I think a friend of mine would like it.

I’ve got some done, stuff I ran across somewhere, and some stuff I got on Ebay. And my Hallmark ornaments, I always get them the minute they put them out, sometimes in SEPTEMBER!!

I’ve gotten two gifts so far, one for each of my sibs. Usually I wait until late November or early December to start my shopping, but the semester ends later than usual this year so I won’t have as much time after finals. And since I hate going to the mall a few days before Christmas, shopping early seems to be the best option.

Nope. I wish the Christmas season would start already, though. It’s my favorite time of year. I keep going to the stores and wandering around, picking out the perfect presents for all of my friends, but I haven’t bought anything yet – except for one little thing for my mom (a pug thing, hard to find and she’s obsessed) which I bought in New Orleans in August, and a couple of toys for my foster sibs.

I don’t start shopping early because if I do I just keep buying stuff all season and I end up spending money I can’t afford to.

There is nothing wrong with shopping early. I would so do that if I could, but unfortuneatly it’s quite impossible, my friends end up buying the stuff that they want, so it takes a while to find something they would like but won’t buy for themselves before christmas. I started shopping for my family though. Een though they tell me not to get them anything… oh well it’s not that hard. My 24 year old brother likjes anything from a toystore, my sister loves all things Pooh Bear and Power Puff and my other brother like Animaniacs, simple really. My parents are the problem. We all got together for fathers day to buy dad a stereo/battery charger. What can you get the man with everything?

Kitty

fpk, go to ebay, and get the man something WEIRD!

My dad is the same, has everything, and when he needs something, he buys it himself… he loves the cross stitches I have done for him, but this year, he gets a big framed pis of the grandkids, and a drinking bird thingy from ebay

I try to finish before the end of November because I hate crowds, unfortunately it’s rather difficult to do that with my sister , brother-in-law ,niece and nephew because they can’t come up with any ideas before the middle of December. I also started doing that because I’ve volunteered at a gift wrap and I see what sort of hideous presents people buy at the last minute.
