Has anyone ever been to an "Outback Steakhouse"?

Sengkelat, you mentioned that the waitresses at Outback can’t pronounce “Melbourne”… Since there is a Melbourne in Florida, what’s the deal there?
Also, how do you pronounce “Melbourne” with an American accent? Is it supposed to be “Mel-burn” or “Mel-born”? Because I constantly hear Americans saying it both ways.

Jesus crud! I had almost the same thing happen on sunday with Teochew dumplings (I was assured they had ‘no peanuts’).
Wifey wouldn’t let me go and kick them in the family jewels after I finished throwing up!

As for the O.P.
Personally I can’t stand Outback Steakhouse. They’ve got one here in Singapore, and I walked in expecting Oz food (being almost a year since I’ve been home!) and asked for a meat pie, or a vanilla slice or a lamington or a Chico Roll… the blank look would have been pricelsss if I’d been in the mood to be amused.
(I had no idea it was an american restaurant and not an Australian franchise. There’s so much Oz stuff here mingling with US and UK stuff, it’s hard to tell sometimes).

Gene-oh!

The biggest thing about Outbacks that make me groan (besides the place being laden with all the stereotypical Aussie icons) is how the menus use all of the stereotypical Aussie slang terms. I swear, when I was in Oz I never ONCE heard someone say “fair dinkum” or “bonzer”.

But good food, great atmosphere. And I DO like seeing posters of places Ive been, like the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains.

Good news! The peanuts are coming back! We had a meeting a couple days ago at the Lonestar that I work at and they’re bringing back the peanuts, adding a steak to the kids menu, doing the whole birthday thing too. We also have a 12oz. filet, a 1/2 gallon of Budlite or Millerlite in a novelty big-ass budwiser bottle that you keep (may be a limited offer), and plus we dance! I’m not sure if this is going to be nationwide so YMMV.

I thinks its about Australian as I am. I went again for the 9th time last night. I love the lamb. Thumbs up from me.

Almighty Schaumburg? you poor thing… a place where the “sites to see” in the hotel leads with the mall??? Spent a couple of weeks there (separate occasions) in the Wyndham and got BORED… Think the OS was Golf Road?
