Has anyone experienced having your Google Drive expire without payment?

My next annual payment is on April 20th and I’m thinking that I don’t want to pay it to save money.

When I Googled the issue it said that my files that are in there wouldn’t be removed and I just wouldn’t be able to add more until paying again.

Can anyone verify that this is true?

Before Googling it I was worried that my files would be deleted and it would just save a random 15 GB of it.

From Google’s policy on purchases:

If your storage plan is canceled or expires
If you cancel your storage plan or when your storage plan expires, your storage limits will reset to the free levels for each product at the end of your billing cycle. Everything in Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail will still be accessible, but you won’t be able to create or add anything new over the free storage limit. If you reach or exceed the free storage limit:

Google Drive: You won’t be able to sync or upload new files. Syncing between your computer’s Google Drive folder and My Drive will stop. You can still create Google documents because they don’t take up any storage space.
Google Photos: If you store photos in Original quality and run out of storage space, you can buy more storage, back up in High quality (lower resolution), or turn off back up.
Gmail: You won’t be able to send or receive messages.

They’re not going to delete anything but unless you decrease your usage to whatever the non-premium limit is, you’ll have very limited usage of Google products including not being able to receive email.

Ok, I’ll probably have to make the payment then because using Gmail is important because it’s the main email I use.

I guess there’s no reason why I can’t use Yahoo email. It’s not like there’s really a difference other than having to tell people I know that I’m using a different email.
