Has anyone heard of Yahoo's World-Science Group?

I’ve been asked to join it and I wonder if any Dopers have.

How’s this for a list of intriguing topics which they mention in the email!(My bolding.)

**Below are some of our recent headlines:

Damn.

I should have mentioned that it’s "…a free subscription to our WORLD SCIENCE email newsletter, which contains some of the world’s most exciting science news and photos long before they’re in newspapers and magazines."

I’ve never heard of this, myself. It sounds fascinating but I’m not sure if it’s worth reading :\

I got sent an invite by “accident” and decided it looke intriguing enough to join. I’m still undecided about it, the entire site just looks so amatuer that you think that it must be some pseudoscientific crackpots. But I haven’t been able to catch out any blatant errors in scientific fact and they do trawl up some interesting stories which aren’t reported in the mainstream scientific press. I don’t know how they’re running it but it seems amusing enough for me.

So it’s invitation-only? Can anyone spare one for me?

I have seen that message floating around. Anyone can sign up. Here is the site.

And I’ll bet this is Offer To Join you received.

Thanks for the link to the site. I went there and doubt I’ll sign up. It looks as if Shalmanese has posted an accurate assessment of it.

Your invitation was bit a different from mine, Jim, but inconsequential.

My thanks, to all of you.

I’ve been signed up for several months. There have been some very interesting articles, all of which seem to be legit, not crackpot science.

I have to admit to sonobbishness. I topok one look at that cluttered Home Page and wrote the site off.

Then, thanks to your comment, snailboy, I went back and read an article or two. I think you’re right. so I will stay with it until they go crackpot on me.

Thank you!
