Has anyone noticed a misuse of the word "appropriate" lately?

I’ve been seeing people say things like “to make sure nothing appropriate happens” or “I never saw him do anything appropriate.” These are two specific examples, but I think I’ve seen others, too. My internal editor is just burning with curiosity to know if it’s just a typo (possible) or if people really think it means the opposite of what it means.

I could care less.

There is nothing inappropriate about “I never saw him do anything appropriate.”

True. But contextually, that’s not what she really meant.

I dunno. Maybe the guy was an idiot and an asshole, and never DID do anything appropriate. :stuck_out_tongue:

Appropriately enough, I’ve never heard either of these (mis)usages.
