Thought I’d give the trilogy a try. Anyone else read them?
I did. They’re pretty good. Q explains the origin of the barrier around the galactic rim and the barrier at the galactic center to Picard. There’s some backstory of Q’s earlier years and why he’s so fascinated by humanity. And due to his rebelliousness he runs into some other powerful beings who have showed up on Star Trek TOS and the motion pictures. It’s well written, the characterizations are spot on. I liked it as much as Peter David’s Q Squared.
I read them, and I agree with cochrane. If you’re a fan of the character, you ought to enjoy the trilogy.
So what’s up with the galactic rim and the barrier at the center?
They were placed by the Q Continuum to contain a couple of malevolent entities, 0, who was exiled to the outside of the Milky Way, and one of his minions, called The One, to the center of the galaxy. It was The One that Kirk and his crew encountered in Star Trek V. Two other powerful beings who escaped the Q’s retribution are Gorgan, who the Enterprise encountered in “And the Children Shall Lead”, and (*), who drove Kirk and Kang and their crews to fight each other in “Day of the Dove”.
Ah, ok, thanks.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Just ordered the fist book on kindle.
High praise - I really liked Q-Squared.
