Where the hell did the book go that I had yesterday? For the life of me I cannot find it. I know I put it down right here but it seemed to magically grow legs and just toddle off. And this isn’t the first time this has happened to me regarding an item around this place.
I’m sure I can’t be the only one who’s looking for something or who has lost something and can’t, for the life of anyone, find it.
What are you currently looking for that you have no idea where it could have vanished mysteriously to?
My glasses, the remote to the fancyass new stereo apparently without which won’t even turn on, the remote to the flippin’ DVD so I can watch Serenity again since I can’t work the stoopit stereo (if I could find my glasses, that is) and the gorram vermouth.
The four of us finally got together today to exchange Xmas gifts. As I was putting them all in a bag this morning I realized that Juan’s was nowhere to be found. Is it simply misplaced in the flotsam and jetsam of my home? Did I inadvertently give it to someone else who ignored the “To Juan from StrayKat” sticker? Is someone else the recipient of some really bad romance novel tripe that Juan loves so dearly?
My camera. It was sitting right here on my desk. I found the batteries I took out of it to charge. But the camera has gone into a spacewarp or something. It’s been three months and I can’t find the stupid thing anywhere.
However, I have six pairs of them floating around the house somewhere…why the hell can’t I find one single ONE.
(Before you ask, the reason I have six pairs is that I keep losing them/forgetting to take them to work, and I have to nick out and buy another set…then of course, I find the lost ones again).
My favorite reading glasses. It’s driving me nuts. At least I don’t feel so bad, since everyone else is losing theirs.
I also can’t find the bag of free Clinique samples I got last week. And I spent a bunch of money, so I got a bunch of samples and I wanna play with them, damnitdamnitdamnit.
The thing of coffee I bought at the grocery the other night. Luckily, I had enough left to make today’s coffee, but I know I’ve seen the new one since I got home Friday. I just don’t remember where.
This book I’m supposed to be reviewing. I thought my mother might have carried it off–she was looking at it when my parents were visiting around the holidays–but she says she doesn’t have it. I hate to think my mother a liar, so it’s got to be here someplace…
At work, a floppy disk with some archived e-mail messages on it. I’ve ransacked my office twice in this past week and can’t find it anywhere.
My fountain pen with the purple ink cartridge in it. I had just soaked the pen and cleaned it thoroughly, and put in a new purple ink cartridge. I was ready to write with it a few minutes ago, but now I can’t find it. Probably one of the cats is playing with it right now.
I have to say, having cats around the house makes it handy to blame someone else for my absentmindedness.
On the other hand, my glasses are firmly on my face. I KNOW where they are at all times, because I’m quite blind without them. I hook the earpieces around my bedside lamp just before I turn it off, and I grab them before I even get out of bed. Sleeping in a different bed worries me, because I have to make sure I can find my glasses when I wake up.
Where is the remote to my VCR? There’s the TV remote, there’s the DVD remote, so where did the VCR remote go? Did the cats abscond with it? Was there a surrealist break-in? Did it run away to elope with my car keys?
