I’m curious about the concept, but it’s expensive (I’ve seen figures ranging from $50-90/month plus a hefty membership fee). I’ll probably stop into one of the locations near me soon – once I’ve braced myself for a sales pitch – but in the meantime I’m wondering if anyone here has tried it?
My wife is a faithful member, going 3x or more per week.
I am not nearly as faithful.
The idea is good, USB key tracks your progress on your program, machines have a touch screen and the program leads you thru exercises, showing you how to do them (on a new one) and giving you the timing with a moving box kind of meter.
They don’t reall do the hard sell on the memberships, stop by and try the place and you’ll get a very good idea of how it works. They don’t seem to oversell memberships either, but at very busy times you might have to do aerobic stuff on treadmill or eliptical and then get your slot on the Universal type machine.
Thanks!
How long has your wife been a member? Has she seen results? Do you think that if you went regularly you’d feel that it’s worth the cost?
jdc, your wife is a regular and you are mostly a no-show. How do you experience its approach as a motivational tool (obviously less potently than your wife does)? Would your wife be similarly disciplined with any plan and you similarly less so? Even though you are AWOL, do you go more often with this approach that you have with other fitness approaches you have tried? Is it fun?
How doers this compare price-wise with hiring a personal trainer, or small group classes?
Oooh, good questions…
