Has Boston Public been canceled?

9:00 p.m. Friday I tuned into my local Fox station to watch “Boston Public” and it wasn’t on – some sitcom with Norm Macdonald was on instead. I called the station and somebody in the news department told me that Fox “didn’t like the scripts that were coming out” of the show, so they moved it to Friday, and finally they decided to cancel it. Does anybody know more about this? What was there about the show that dissatisfied the network?

I’m trying to confirm that but the official homepage for the show indicates a new show coming on the 19th and no word about cancellation yet.

According to the above link, Boston Public is still scheduled at 9:00 on Fridays.

Perhaps it was a one time thing that you just happened to catch that Norm MacDonald show.

Well, if you seen one “teacher discovers a student engaged in some horribly-self-destructive practice, then learns the student found out about this horribly-self-destructive practice by reading it on an internet page written by another student who then defends the horribly-self-destructive practice as a freedom-of-speech issue” you’ve seen them all.

Don’t forget EVERY form of teacher-student romantic/sexual relationships!

I saw it listed on an endangered series list. With Fox, there’s no telling.

Boston Public is on Christmas break.

No, seriously.

Paszaz.com neither lists it as cancelled or on hiatus. Like so many dramas this time of year, the fall season has ended and it breaks (or goes into repeats) until new eps start in January.

During this time it’s holiday specials and “play with the schedule” wherein the mucky-mucks move ailing shows around trying to see if a new time slot will help. (Of course, all that moving around actually discourages any faithful viewers the show had in the first place…)

Peace.

Excuse me, the correct term is “Winter Recess.”

Seems to me Jessalyn Gilsig’s character got a very thankless sendoff. Was it David Kelly reminding her who’s the boss as he was firing her? Any backstory there?

It’s not canceled YET, but it’s probably not long for this world. Entertainment Weekly had it in a “TV winners and losers”-style article this week, and said 50% of its viewers were lost with its move to Fridays.
