Has Mythbusters fallen out of Favor with the Discovery Channel?

Once they were their top show with many day long marathons now they seem almost completely absent. What’s the deal, are they too expensive, no longer a draw or can’t compete with the new science channel line ups? Of course I am talking about all the programs about: Bigfoot, UFOs, ancient astronauts, hill-billy hand fishing, logging, pawn shops, etc. Perhaps the science networks want out of the educational programming business?

My guess is all of the above.

The marathons may not draw the same number of viewers they used to.

They ran out of actual myths to bust a few seasons ago, IMO. Most of their latest episodes are all about reproducing stunts from whatever movie is sponsoring them this week (the “Green Hornet” episode was particularly silly in this regard) or testing aphorisms that few people would ever have interpreted literally in the first place (though it was pretty amusing to see them try and build a lead zeppelin.)
