Has The Satanic Verses been translated into Russian?

My Ukrainian girlfriend’s favourite book is Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita (which I think really sucks and is incredibly misguided, but that’s a thread for another day). This book happened to be one of Salman Rushdie’s biggest inspirations in writing The Satanic Verses, so I figure she’ll like that as well. Her English, though fine, isn’t strong enough to make her endure an entire novel, so I’m looking for a Russian translation. Has a translation of the book ever been made into Russian?

According to this site, publication in Russia was cancelled at some point. I know that doesn’t answer your question, but it suggests the possibility of a “no.”

That seems to answer that. Thanks for finding the information.

It’s a shame that it doesn’t exist in Russian, as I think a lot of Russians would like to see what a Westerner (well, Rushdie’s book is very Occidental even if he isn’t) has gotten out of ** The Master and Margarita**, which is supposedly incomprehensible to non-Russians.
