Jukeball, I’m not sure I understand your question. You are in India. You have accessed the SDMB. In what sense has the SDMB not “come” to your location? Bakvas mat kar, bhai.

The sdmb is where ever there is a connection to the internet. We have members from all over the world.
Google comes up empty on “The Chenai Reader.” Maybe you could start up a branch office ? 
I suspect the OP is asking about the printed column.
That said, I’m moving this thread to ATMB, if for no other reason that I rarely get to move things there and you’d be surprised at what passes for fun after doing this for long enough.

What I meant was I keep reading about these SDMB parties and get togethers taking place , so i was just wondering if something like that has been done in India!

The Chicago Reader and the column The Straight Dope don’t have anything at all to do with Dopefests. There are no “official” SDMB parties and get-togethers. Note the disclaimer at the top of MPSIMS
This does not stop people who post here from getting together all over the place. Australia, England, The Netherlands-- I wonder if the Japanese fest got off.
I don’t recall one in India, although there are some board members there. What you can do, Jukeball, is propose one in the MPSIMS forum. Start a thread with a title that makes it clear that you are seeking expressions of interest in a gethering in India.

The CR / Straight Dope does not schedule any such meetings and therefore there is no offical Dopefest in any city anywhere in the world. This protects the management and staff of the CR / Straight Dope from being sued over activities occuring at, and/or as a result of, these meetings.

Any such meetings are scheduled and organized by individuals on this board in their own capacity and at their own risk. Any persons attending these meetings do so at their own risk (this, ofcourse, is my pesonal understanding. facts may differ.)

I doubt there are enough of SDMB members in Bombay, or even all of India, to make such a meeting a party. But perhaps you, me and Ronald McDonald can try the jive. or Tango. Or even the new McAloo Tikki Burger with upsized fries and coke with no ice.
