With all the focus on the intense political partisanship in the US in the last 10-15 years, has there been an increase in the amount of political violence?

I was just reading about the Texas senator who attempted to filibuster an anti-abortion bill the day before yesterday. Her offices in Fort Worth were firebombed (not related to the recent issue). That is the sort of thing to which I am referring, as opposed to someone shooting up a mosque because they don’t like Muslims.

I don’t think we are coming to the point where the Republicans and Democrats have militant wings, but I worry that things may be trending that way.

An increase since when? Depending on when you choose to start your time line, you could make a case that it is gone up, gone down, or hasn’t changed much.

And that’s ignoring trying to define the term “political.” I don’t think you can restrict its meaning to politicians’ offices or persons, but if you don’t than almost anything becomes political.
