I gave my old cell phone to my mum as I got a new one. The one I gave to her is a pay as you go type. Well she doesn’t use it very often. T-Mobile sent me a letter saying this, and to encourage “me” to use it more, for every £20 “I” put on they’ll add another £20!

Has this happened to anyone else?

That happened to me when I had a Tracfone. I’m assuming it’s an incentive to keep you (or her, rather) using it more regularly. Thereby running up more of a bill for them to take your money over.
