Has trump ever in his life suffered any consequences of his illegal acts in any area?

Yeah, yeah, another trump thread… running out of time, don’tcha know. This didn’t seem to fit in other trump threads.

Has he ever suffered or even FELT the consequences of anything illegal he has done in any area-- business, financial, personal, etc. IOW is he truly Teflon Don with a protective coating that keeps any painful sting from penetrating into his hide?

He’s been sued, fined, divorced, yaddayaddayadda-- and I guess he’s paid some of those fines or not. He has broken contracts, insulted people on a global scale, sexually harassed women, ignored the IRS, not paid his debts, and on and on. He just ignores legal consequences, denies reality, sends in his lawyers, and walks away unscathed to fight another day. And apparently no one comes after him. Or if they do, rinse and repeat.

Can anyone cite an instance where trump was seriously wounded or injured (financially/legally) such that he FELT it and was brought to his knees?

Not asking if he learned a lesson from such an event, because that’s an absurd question. Just wondering if it’s ever happened.

He has paid millions in hush money.

Donnie isn’t capable of that; he has his own personal Ministry of Truth and nothing can really penetrate it. The only person who could has been dead for 21½ years.

“I did nothing wrong!” or some permutation thereof will likely be somewhere on Donnie’s tombstone.

But the loss of money doesn’t really wound him personally.

I think he feels everything. That’s one of his biggest flaws. He takes every slight personally and responds vehemently, on Twitter, in press conferences, in phone rants. He never got past the stage that adults are supposed to do where you learn to ignore certain things. Everything negative about him is a big deal.

So I guess I’m wondering what you mean with your question… He has the thinnest hide of any public figure I can think of. The slightest tap is a painful sting to him.

Sigh. And I endeavored to be so clear.

I mean is he truly Teflon Don who walks away from every illegal act with NO consequences (except his hurt feelings)? Ordinary mortals get arrested, go to jail, go bankrupt (for real, not on paper), lose their homes, are hunted down by enforcers and shot in alleys… trump ignores laws, ignores contracts, ignores rules, ignores anything and everything that people tell him, and suffers no consequences that have any impact on him or his lifestyle.

We all know he’s never going to jail and he will continue to live exactly the same lifestyle he always has and no crime he ever commits will change that. He will ignore reality and real events and rewrite history until his dying day, and there will be no consequences to him. He seems to be untouchable by the law. My question is, I guess, “Has the law ever touched him in a tangibly painful (to him) way?”

Can somebody who understands my question express it more clearly?

Feeling persecuted is not the same as feeling responsible. Trump will never feel responsible for any wrongdoing, simply because he is not capable of seeing anything he has ever done wrong. Having to suffer consequences would mean seeing whatever led to those consequences was wrong and that would lead to one hell of a disconnect.

As I alluded to upthread, only Daddy Fred could get Donnie to suffer consequences.

“He lived a perfect life.”

Got it.

Okay. I’m not asking whether trump feels bad about doing bad stuff. Of course, he doesn’t. It’s a given that he never believes he has done anything wrong.

I’m asking if he has ever suffered CONSEQUENCES like an ordinary citizen, i.e., been seriously damaged financially, physically (grasping at straws here) beaten up, spent a night in jail… you know, the kind of stuff people like us might experience if we blatantly and continuously defied the laws of the country. Has he ever been prosecuted and suffered anything more onerous than a lousy fine (even if it was a big one).

Not as far as I know. He’s had a number of business bankruptcies, but he has never filed for personal bankruptcy. His personal fortune has likely taken hits during some of those business bankruptcies, but it’s difficult to know for certain, because he takes such pains to conceal that information from public view. He’s been sued many times, and though he’s had to make payments (or negotiated settlements) on some of them, it’s not clear that any of those settlements have had a serious financial cost for him.

Even when the Justice Department accused him and his company of discrimation in the 1970s, he reached a settlement with them out of court, without admitting guilt.

To a broader point, it is a weakness of our system (to put it mildly), that “people like him” (define that however you wish) do not usually have to worry about the same kind of consequences that us mere citizens do. Sure, he has had to pay out lots of money for various things, and you/I would consider those sums very painful indeed, but he’s never had to worry about a police officer pushing his head into a car hood. That’s just not how it’s done with people like him - more’s the pity.

Two accusations of discrimination; Donnie & Daddy Fred did stop for awhile after the first then started again, leading to the second and the settlement.

His Trump University did get sued out of existence which is a good thing and probably a blow to his ego. He settled out of court for about $25 million but apparently some billionaire business partner of his paid the bill.

Donnie’s casino company lost at least $840 million on the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Not even Russian mobsters laundering their rubles through it* could save it from bankruptcy.

*For which Donnie was fined $10 million.

Okay, this is the kind of thing I’m talking about! Yeah, he gets fined and pays the fines or he doesn’t. That’s it!

But even occasionally, “people like him” (e.g., Kennedys) have had to suffer actual consequences… trump seems to hold a super free pass, get-out-of-jail never-have-to-go-to-jail card.

I doubt he was ever so much as spanked as a child, and it shows.

Actually, I would strongly suspect that he was spanked/beaten as a child. His father was an utter asshole, and in Mary Trump’s book, she presents the case that Donald is the way he is because of Fred’s bullying and abuse.

Bullies are always afraid of bigger bullies. Fred > Donnie; Donnie (in his mind) > everyone else.
