I just saw one! In a very upscale town (next to mine). It looked like it hadn’t been painted in 50 years…broken windows, lawn overgrown with weeds, driveway cracked and broken. When I was a kid, there was just sucjh a house in our town-all the kids thought it was haunted-nobody lived in it (I later found it was bound up in an estate case). Anyway, we used to dare eachother to walk up to the door and knock on it! Once a kid did this, and a relative of the (dead) owner was inside-the door opened, and the kid just about fainted with fright!
Generally, do town building inspectors NOTICE when a house is obviously falling into ruin? When does the law allow entry by a public official? Every once in a while you read of an older person being found dead in such a house-you would think that the neighbors would notice the decay and DO something!
