"Have a blessed day!"... [Chick-fil-a]

Gotcha. I was stuck on resemble = looks like.

well then, you won’t have to hear them say it. problem solved. so why are you complaining?

Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich trumps all FF chicken sandwiches IMO.

I just looked up “blessed” in the dictionary and there are at least two ways that it’s not tied to anything divine… (1) blissfully happy or contented, or (2) bringing happiness or thankfulness. So, no matter where I’ve been in my life spiritually (from an agnostic to whatever it is I am now), I’d never have a problem with anyone wishing me such a banal, but kind sentiment. Bring on the blissful happiness!

Oh, and Cajun chicken. I’m about that, too.

You can also go with with “bless your heart”, which may or may not mean “go fuck yourself”.

Fortunately, back home in Confederate Florida, everyone knows I loathe CFA’s food, religion, and politics; no one even suggests it as an option if I’m in the group. I think the 15-minute rant turns people off.

I’ll echo the Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich is the best chicken sandwich, but Chick-Fil-A makes a pretty damned good chicken sandwich. I boycotted them myself for a few years due to the company giving to ex-gay groups, which is akin to giving money to torturers (IMO), but since they’ve ended that practice I’ve started going back (I do realize that still give to anti-gay marriage groups, which I disagree with, but I find that to be an expression of free speech and not worthy of boycotting - and I got really sick of ‘boycott culture’ after the Eich thing).

CFA also has tasty waffle fries.

I happen to enjoy the spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy’s but they don’t serve anything like the chicken from Chick-Fil-A. But, yes, they seem to be thriving. Head to any of the three locations here in Little Rock at lunch or dinner and you’ll see a huge line in the drive thru and plenty of people eating indoors. Why?

[li]The employees are unfailingly polite.[/li][li]The restaurants are clean. [/li][li]They make really good chicken sandwiches.[/li][li]They’re competitively priced.[/li][li]The biggest complaints I hear about Chick-Fil-A as a restaurant is that they’re closed on Sundays and their employees say stupid stuff like “have a blessed day.” [/li][/ul]

I get that not everybody likes the chicken from Chick-Fil-A. I don’t really understand it, but, hey, different strokes for different folks, right? But why they’re successful really isn’t a mystery.

Edit: Incidentally, I didn’t hear anyone say “have a blessed day” when I got my lunch today.

I’ve never eaten at a CFA. Reason one, when I’m out and about running errands and might like a fast-food lunch, it’s usually a Sunday and they’re closed. Two, the sodium content – way too high for me. The religiosity of the founder runs a distant third.

My first experience with Chick-fil-A was at the Sooner Mall in Norman, OK (it was Spring, 2009, and I was there for a school on one of the Postal Service’s sorting machines). I didn’t have a sandwich, but they WERE pushing a peach milkshake at the time.

That thing was bloody delicious.

My next Chick-fil-A experience came in the fall of that year, when the newly-elected APWU chief steward and Local president passed out sandwiches at the beginning of tour one evening. Pretty tasty, but nothing to change my life.

The nearest Wendy’s is ten miles away, and I don’t know if there’s a Popeyes in a hundred mile radius. CFA is he best fast food chicken we have around here.

Once. I ate there ONCE. Check post #3.

And I’m not insulted by the blessed day comment as much as I am by the blandness of the food and the minor local hoopla of a Chick-fil-a coming to the area.

“Have a blessed day” is not a Chick-fil-A thing. If you heard it there, the employee said it of his or her own volition. The only phrase you’ll repeatedly hear one of their employees say is “My pleasure”.
Now I’m hungry.

To me, that’s invariably a good sign. It means you have one core product you concentrate on, and you do it well (if you’re packing the restaurant and continually expanding across the US.) Now, obviously some people here disagree about the quality of their product, but I do think it’s the best fast food chicken sandwich, much how I think In N Out is the best fast food burger and it has a similarly short menu (just cheeseburger, hamburger, fries, and shake, I believe.) Chick Fil A actually has a bit more on their menu, like salads, wraps, a breakfast burrito, breakfast biscuit sandwiches, etc.

Feeling a little less grumpy and more fair minded today, I have to concede the above point - ‘Chicken’ is right in the name of the joint. I might as well have complained about the lack of variety at KFC.

I’m w/e on the ‘blessed day’ thing too; Could have been just the server or this particular store.

Still don’t think the chicken is anything to brag about. It’s acceptable, maybe better than some other fast food joints, but that’s hardly a high bar.

Approps of nothing, in general, the ONLY people I ever hear saying “Have a blessed day” are African-American women.

He’d nail 95 feces to their door.

It would not be known if this was a theological stand, or a commentary on the quality of the chicken sandwiches. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you are offended by Truett Cathy (founder of CFA) spending CFA profits to promote homophobia, urge people to boycott on that basis. Don’t go claiming that CFA sandwiches are not delicious, because a lot of people think they ARE delicious (me included). The only effect your claims will have on people who think they are delicious is to make them doubt your word – clearly you don’t know what you are talking about, or are willing to lie to influence them. It actually hurts your cause.

I bet you are a lot of fun to hang out with…

“Hey let’s go hit Chik-Fil-A. Their sammiches are the shit.”

<GrumnpBunny rants for fifteen minutes about a fucking chicken sandwich.>

“Right. So Chik-Fil-A it is. Deuces.”

Used in that context or as “Have a a blessed day,” there is a 100% chance the person means “Blessed by God exactly as I perceive him.”

Even though I’m not religious I don’t care if someone wishes me to be blessed, at least for today anyway. I guess I have to come eat there again tomorrow to be blessed tomorrow.

And judging by the crowds I don’t think that boycotting Chick-Fil-A is hurting their business much.
