Have a very Happy Hobbit Day Everyone.

Today is September 22nd. For nearly 30 years I have been celibrating the birthdays of Bilbo & Frodo Baggins on this day.
The celibrating is simple, if you like the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit, just wish someone a happy Hobbit day.*

So for Dope purposes just post a quote or passage or something you loved about the books or even the movies.

  • Warning, this may become [del]Hobbit[/del] Habit Forming

If you’re celibrating, does that mean you’re not getting any today?

Happy Birthday to the Baggins’.

Hobbits are generally inferior to gnomes. At least a gnome is good for punting. Hobbits have lousy aerodynamics and don’t fly as far.

No, it means I hit Submit by accident instead of Preview. A sad day mistake indeed, at least it was not in the Title.
Of course it would be reasonable to assume that a person that **celebrates ** Hobbit day would not be getting any.

Jim

Damn…ya beat me to a good joke.

Well that answers that. :frowning:

What answers what?

Hobbit Day is ok, but it can’t be better than Orc Heritage Day. Alas, it only comes around every 4 years.

(I didn’t write that post but I wish I did.)

I strongly suspected this thread would die and early death. I guess correctly.

What? Miss a chance to quote JRRT? Methinks not!

“The burned hand teaches best. After that, advice about fire goes to the heart.”

I think. I didn’t look it up.

How does one pronounce that Elvish sentence in the OP?

Or like this: http://www.gothpunk.com/~kmactane/quenya/sounds/elen-sila-najetovic.mp3

This version has a bit more emotional content, IMHO.

BTW, if you like to hear JRRT’s languages spoken, go here: http://www.gothpunk.com/~kmactane/quenya/comparison.html

Oh, and belated happy birthday to Froda and Bilba.

Think I’ll have a drink to celebrate.Oh, look there’s a bottle of a nice grenache right beside my monitor! Happy birthday, hobbits.
