There was some black ice on the road. I stopped for a light, but the guy behind me didn’t. He plowed into my bumper. Broke his headlight and messed up his front quarter panel.
My car was barely touched. It looks like his tire hit the corner of my bumper – there’s a black mark (on a black bumper), but no damage.
Oddly, this is the second time in my life that someone has plowed into me due to ice on the road, and the second time my car wasn’t damaged.
The first time was when I was in college. I skidded and spun around facing traffic. The engine stalled out.
Another guy saw me, hit the brakes and skidded sideways and into my front bumper. My license plate was bent; he needed a whole new side.
Glad to hear no one was hurt and you didn’t get any major damage. What type of car do you have? Not too many people were so lucky in the past few days.
I had the opposite happen. I was driving down a rain-slicked road in my (sigh) 67 Mustang, and some bastard turned across my lane with no blinker. I braked, and slid into some POS Honda CRX. Broke his taillight, TOTALED my Mustang. Granted, it was no showroom piece, but I loved nearly carnally, and I still miss it.
I feel tense having read the OP! Twice this year folks have pulled out in front of my in the snow, forcing me to “thread the needle” to the left of them and thank goodness no one was coming in the opposite direction close enough to get in trouble. I was already going slowly but now I just crawl because I can’t trust 'em!!
