Have bananas been getting more rotten lately

Just a few months ago I could buy bananas that would stay fresh for 3-5 days. Now everytime I buy bananas they are almost always rotten in a day, or they have numerous black spots. Is there something going wrong with the banana supply or am I just picking bad ones? FTR these are chiquita bananas from Kroger.

I’ve read before that bananas are on the verge of extinction. I don’t know if this has anything to do with that though.

If bananas go extinct…what will comedy bank robbers pretend is a gun inside their jacket?

Also, they’re brilliant to set up slip over gags. Dont want to see that disappear.

Banana…the fruit of comedy.

We buy the mini bananas cause the are so cute.

They really get black quick.

Try red bananas, hard to tell when they go black.

I have not had any problems with my bananas. I only recently started having them, but I have no problems so far. I do try to only buy enough to last 3 or 4 days though.

The answer lies here, my son.

I haven’t done a scientific comparision, but lately I’ve been buying organic bananas and they seem to hang in there a day or two longer. I have no idea why this would be.

Grocery stores only seem to restock their banana supply every week or so. If you get them at the beginning of the cycle rather than the end, they’ll last longer.

Bananas will ripen quicker in the presence of ethylene gas. If your leaving them next to some apples or even other bananas, they will ripen faster.

I don’t know about bananas in general, but this one sure has been.
