Did mine several weeks ago. H&R block had a deal where you can get a 10% bonus if you get an amazon gift card instead of a cash rebate, so I took that.
Yes and no. I did what I needed to do, but I haven’t gotten the form back from my tax guy yet that I sign and send in. In fact, I need to call him tomorrow and ask him why I haven’t gotten it yet.
Back in March - hand filled and mailed. I’ve never bothered to hunt up efile options for my return.
I live in Australia full time - four pages for a zero bottom line.
I still need to get around to mine. If I haven’t gotten them done by Thursday, I’ll do them then (I really don’t want to be stuck doing them over Easter weekend).
Hell no. I make sure I don’t give the government a loan. And they get my $500 or so on April 18th.
Finished them today while waiting for the A/C guy to show up. As usual, Feds owe me money, IL raised their tax rates again and I owe them some, and MO tortured me with calculating the estimated tax penalty* that again ended up being a pittance. But as usual, I owe MO about the amount of my Fed refund.
- because I work in IL and live in MO, there’s nothing withheld for MO from my paycheck, so I’m supposed to make estimated payments 4 times a year, as if.
I did get the forms I need today, and will do them this weekend while baking for Easter dinner.
I do them the old fashioned way, on paper, and I mail them in.
Turbo Tax at the start of March, got the federal refund in abouot 5 days, state took about 3 weeks.
I always do the figures as early as possible (early February) so that if I have to pay I have time to save up for it, and if I get a refund I can file right away. This year and last year I used Tax Act Online, which was cheaper than Turbo Tax. This year I got refunds both in fed and state, so I filed right away, got both refunds within 2 weeks. Spent refunds shortly thereafter. I really have no discipline.
I don’t file a tax return, nor pay taxes. Checking back out.
I spent half the year on a fellowship. My college won’t withhold from that. Normally I get a tidy refund, but this year what I get back in federal money about equals what I owe for state. So, you know. Like a grown up, I put it off until last weekend. Federal’s filed, and I’ll file state this weekend, since I get paid on Friday.
Me too. I prefer not giving government interest free loans if I can help it. Except for the “Trump Bump”, returns have been so low there’s no point in waiting. We try to owe as much as possible, but this year things didn’t work out and we broke even. So we sent it back in Feb.

I started over the weekend, gathering info.
Started the paper irk yesterday. Got asked a few questions I couldn’t answer, cussed a lot, spent an hour looking for information on a form I didn’t file last year, cussed some more.
I use taxact, I don’t know why it asked me for information on a form I didn’t file, because it should know what forms I filed.
I should be doing them now but … I’m hungry and the dog wants out, and the cat wants some treats and dishwasher needs to be loaded and I need clean clothes, and … look at those dirty windows!
We used H&R Block, as we have for the past several years. For the second year in a row, very annoyingly, we owed a small amount (even after I bumped up my tax withholding from my paycheck twice). Not sure exactly why, but we’re probably going to see an accountant in the next couple of months.
Yes, already filed. Sad to say the refund went towards a car repair.
Not yet.
As an American residing abroad full time I can take advantage of an automatic two month extension to file and to pay.
It’s not really an issue on my personal return as wages are offset by Foreign Income Exclusion. My tax guy sends quarterly payments for income under a trust and we’ll settle that up for the year in another month or so.
Good, a thread already started
Did them a week or so ago.
Did them myself
Printing them today-double checking the numbers
Sending in mail tomorrow
Getting refunds from both state and federal, first time in years. Not a lot, but hell of a lot better than paying!
Question though: Why does page 2, 1040 not have name info/social security info at the top like it used to have?
The only identifiable info is the signatures. What if they cant read that? I guess maybe these forms are suppose to be e-filed…I dont care to go thru those online programs to input all this crap again just to efile?
One of the benefits of being married to an accountant with some OCD tendencies is that she does our taxes the day we get our W2s.
Just did ours this past Saturday. I always put it off until April because we usually have to pay.
I do my taxes twice a year. First in August or so as a projection to make sure withholdings and all other predictions are accurate. This gives me enough time to adjust by the end of the year. Then again when they are final, usually in the February time frame. When I do February I reset the estimate for the current year that I will double check again in the following August.
I am completely normal whatever you may be thinking
