We had to pay in for the first time in years. So we stalled as long as possible. Cut the check and mailed it in last Saturday.
First World problems, but it still sucks.

I filed for a 6 month extension. I just don’t have time to pull together the information for someone else to do my taxes. Truth be told, I hate doing taxes and procrastinate. Accountant is cheaper after her month long vacation post 15 April
Almost finished filing my tax return. Everything was going great until the website demanded state-issued ID for identity verification. I lost my driver’s license a few days ago and haven’t gotten it replaced…and can’t get it replaced until after April 15.
All I had to do is walk in with the proper identifications and I got a new license, granted a paper one but a valid drivers license. Not sure how I lost the old one!
We have ours done for free by AARP tax volunteers, mainly because my wife doesn’t want to have to learn state tax law. We got whacked pretty hard this year ($11K) because we started drawing down our retirement and cashed out some stocks last year. Not sending the check until the last day possible.
Nope. I ran some basic numbers and realized I had to pay in, and significantly, due to three jobs and not changing exemptions and the like. The money is there, I just don’t want to do it. It’s about time to sack up though.
We have to file an extension. Ivylad got on SS last year and the 1099 they sent was WAY over inflated. As in, no, we did not see near that much money.
We took that to the accountant along with the paper from Workers Comp to show the real amount.
Bottom line, accountant has to go with the SSA 1099 even though it’s wrong. So, we have to pay $7200 (in all the years we’ve been married we’ve always gotten refunds) now and try to get things sorted out with SSA and file the return later.
I completed all of the forms a month and a half ago – I’ve always done my taxes myself, but this past year, I was self-employed for the full year, which increased the amount of work to be done to file by quite a bit.
Since I knew that I would be having to write checks (to both the IRS and the state), I haven’t sent the forms in yet, and won’t do so until next Tuesday, as there’s no good reason to do so.
Haven’t done them yet. Starting to panic a little. I’ve never waited this long. I just keep forgetting. Should be a simple return and I’m sure I’ll get some money back, so what’s wrong with me this year? Tomorrow, for sure, tomorrow.
Relax! It’s not due this year until next Tuesday, April 18! (ETA: I just discovered that fact yesterday!)
I just did my fed tax this evening. State tax tomorrow.
