The show: Public radio’s Sound Opinions, hosted by Greg Kot and Jim “I totally SUCK because I hate The Last Waltz” DeRogatis (seriously, the only persons who are given a pass for not liking The Last Waltz? Members of the Band other than Robbie Robertson and … NO ONE ELSE).
But ANYWAY.
My lame ass is featured at the very ass end of the show, during the segment wherein they play recorded messages from listeners calling into their phone line. If you’re so inclined to listen to my ever so brief segment, click on the link, then click on the yellow segment of the circle in the upper left corner of the page. Then listen to Jim ‘n’ Greg discuss the merits of the band Veruca Salt, almost have a heart attack (if you’re me) when the page goes back up to what appears to be the beginning of the show. Then I (or, well, the dulcet tones of my voice) appear after one man, then one woman share memories of the late Roger Ebert. My contribution is naming a couple of my favorite political songs. Three guesses (and the first two count not at all) as to who one of those songs is by.
I sent a puzzler suggestion to Car Talk - never heard anything back and assumed it was rejected, some months later I was absentmindedly listening to the show and was startled to hear Ray say my name when they used it.
I’ve been played on the Dr. Demento Show a few times.
He’s internet-only these days, but he did play me a few times back when his show was still nationally syndicated for radio broadcast.
I was a contestant on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, about 6 or 7 years ago. It was the Bluff The Listener segment. I won on a story about tires that were made to smell nice (that’s about all I remember).
