Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde
Martha Davis of The Motels
The chick that did the vocal orgasm on Dark Side of the Moon. I think her name is Claire Torey.
Meatloaf, but he didn’t do anything for me
Showing my age there…

Hey, me too! I could listen to Bob Ross talk all day and all night. I loved his voice.
Emiliana Torrini. If I saw her in concert I’d probably faint. The best sultry-yet-demure dancy-type voice I’ve ever heard. Every one of her songs sends chills down my spine.
Have to second…I mean fifth or sixth that. Of course it made a certain amount of perverse (quite!) sense when it was attached to Dr. Furter, it’s a little weirder when it turns up in cartoons.
And…Lister. As in Red Dwarf. I think he’s dead sexy. Then I saw the actor on Robot Wars and realized he doesn’t really talk like that. So it wasn’t Craig, it was Lister and his (dead common) accent.
I have a thing for English accents but I’ve realized the ones that really get to me tend to be the ones other Englishmen consider atrocious.
As for Americans, and singers, Rufus Wainwright. For all the good that will do me.
Looks like mine have already been named. Number one is Kim Deal. Holy cow. The phrases “They were so… quiet about it” and “What a gas it was to see him” have a strange power over me.
Also: Neko Case. With the New Pornographers almost as much as her solo stuff.
Afraid I’ve got to admit to that one too. He did a voice on Grim Fandango as well, the pro-union dockworker bee.
God, I could start listing names now, and not stop till morning. But, off the top of the list—
Kath Soucie in her “normal” voice. ( ::puppy-eyed, slackjawed drooling:
And…Vincent Price, but in a platonic way.
There, you see what she does to me? 'Can’t even code right when she’s mentioned…
Another vote for Sandy Denny. Still the loveliest voice I’ve ever heard.
Another vote for Alan Rickman. Smooth and sexy. And what a great accent!
I have to nominate my favorite NPR newsguy, Rob Gifford. Most of the time, I don’t give a damn about what he’s reporting, but I always turn it up when I hear him. And he’s cute, too.
I had a client from Ohio who I’d speak to once a month. My god, his voice. Sounded just like Sam Elliot. We never talked about anything but business, but I’d have to fan myself after hanging up with him.
[Sam Elliot impression] Ma’am. [/Sam Elliot impression] (Tips hat)
