Well, I stand thoroughly flattered.
Searching on my real name reveals that I’m a basketball coach at a Christian college in Texas, and that I’m married and have a son named after me. I guess I should probably be calling them, or sending money or something…they’re probably wondering what happened to me…
I have had a couple of people find me over the years by Googling my name, one just last week as a matter of fact. Results are just me, no virtual mes (what is the plural of me?) out there.
I get mostly just professional stuff, an alumni listing from a school I attended in Japan, a reference to a post I made on an aviation history page and I found that I’m on the same microchips that erislover is, although I have no idea how that happened. I’m sure it’s me, as I’d bet big pots of money you won’t find anyone else with my first and last name.
Years ago, the first time I searched my name (with some other engine) the first thing that came up was an email I’d sent about a year before. Spooky.
Most links that come up with my name are my own sites or sites that refer to me, but I also came up with another guy with my name that is a drummer in Florida…which is odd since I’m also a drummer. But the worst is that a guy with my name is a male prostitute in Toronto, and he advertises on-line. Ugh.
Jman
Well, it’s possibly the real me would come up in one of those hits, but since my last name is a very common verb, I can’t begin to search through the 16,200 sites that Google presented to me. There were alot of biblical sites since my name is the same as a person in Genesis. I also have just found out I share a name with a Pokemon character. Hmmm, I didn’t notice that a few years ago when my son was so into it.
I did Google my brother a few months ago, and some of those sites were real since he was up until fairly recently a journalist in the Army, and quite a few of his articles are evidently used as cites in a lot of on-line articles. I even saw a post by my brother on a message board!
Never had until this thread. Besides finding a couple of things from my college fencing days I was apparently involved with Hearts and Crowns Pageant Productions credited under powder & poof hair and make up. Rather a departure for me since I seldom wear make-up and have been working on the same bottle of hairspray for approximately 4 years.
Most searches on my real name bring up pages that include my work or otherwise mention me. There is also someone with my name who’s active in building model tanks, but I’ve been seeing less of him lately.
I am, apparently:
Lead singer for the Detroit Cobras.
A very involved student at USF.
A scholastic and ARTS talent search finalist in short stories.
Only one is true (hint: I can’t sing, and my location’s in my prof).
I happen to be a “Barister at Law” and a saxophone player. WOOHOO.
An update on the Porsche racer: I went out to my parent’s for Easter and asked them if they knew him, and my dad thinks it may be a cousin of his (a branch of my family in Quebec does spell our name in the same different way). If I can find an email for Porsche Racer, I may try contacting him.
Quite a few, mainly stuff I’ve written for various newspapers and things.
(singing) I know Angel of the Lord’s name…I know Angel of the Lord’s name.
I only got one result, but apparently I am in a correctional institute and looking for a pen pal…and if I know me, I’m looking to get a conjugal visit out of it.
I just Googled myself. In the first two pages I found:
1 reference to my own website
2 reviews of my book
5 listings for my book
1 link to Teemings
3 announcements of lectures
1 reference to an article I wrote 23 (!) years ago
5 references to people with my last name (and someone else had my first name on the webpage)
Oh, God. I just Googled CalMeacham. I find links to Teemings and to the People Pages, but apparently I share my handle with a band made up of math majors:
http://www.michiganartists.com/bands/calmeacham.htm
http://www.angelfire.com/rant/meacham/first.html
The only thing I could find other than religious tracts in German was a guy who once played guitar for an English band called ]James. Oh, and a realtor in Kentucky with the same last name, but no connection I know of…yet. My people are so exciting.
I found some of my web site images being used from people who didn’t have permission. the most fun was the search the newsgroup section there for moderator emails. I learned a lot that way.
I apparently wrote an introductory Java textbook.
Going by my real name:
I am a business teacher at RMIT based in Melbourne, Australia.
I am mentioned on the Czech Mensa page, though in what context, I have no idea.
And I am an volleyball coach at the Front Range Volleyball Club in Denver, CO.
None of the above is actually me.
No matches on my screen name.
I’m a tour operator in Canada. Which is impressive, since I’ve never even been to Canada.
It also turned up something I submitted for my final year uni project. How it got there is anyone’s guess.
I am: [ul]
[li]several dead people[/li][li]a highschool English teacher in Berkeley, CA[/li][li]“Development Officer, Events” for the British Museum Development Trust[/li][li]a member of a debate club in New South Wales[/li][/ul]
One of my brothers’ names pulls up several times in the geneologies alongside mine. His is a common name, though, so I’m not surprised. Also, someone with my same first name was a runner in an Run for Arthritis. Hmm.
