Yes, this is why snowbirds pay people to monitor their homes when they leave for the summer. I’ve picked up a few bucks just for going into people’s houses in the summertime to make sure that the AC is working.
By moving 200 miles south, I’ve gone from a “hot summer continental climate” to a “humid subtropical climate” (Koppen classification).
Not a lot of palm trees to be seen here, but I do have clumps of hardy bananas.
Looking at the snow outside and promise of more, that does not sound so bad.
After growing up in the PNW, one of my requirements for college was “a place with 4 seasons”. Not exactly better weather, but definitely different.
After a total of 12 years of living with 4 seasons, I’m in central Switzerland. Whose weather is similar to the PNW. And I love having the long summer evenings again, but my husband doesn’t care for the short winter days.
So we probably won’t move much further south or north of our current latitude.
