Have you ever used the word "phablet"?

i really wanted a smart phone with a large face, for maps & news, until the nice sales person called it a “phablet”. I snapped at him that he was never to use that word again and would not buy the phone.

Now, if he had somehow managed to pronounce it “fab-let”, or even “fablette”, I might have bought it, but I loved “Absolutely Fabulous”.

[shudder] “Phablet” [/shudder]

The first I heard the word was when my daughter told me she wanted one for her birthday. Unlike most teens, she barely uses the phone, and wanted something bigger for internet use, so it suits her needs well.

The kids at her (London) school know the word, but when I recently visited family in FL, they weren’t familiar with it.

Until this thread, I’d never encountered the term. It strikes me as inane. But I’m not the target market, as I use a very basic flip phone that doesn’t even take pictures!!!

I think it’s more of an industry term than a marketing term, and it should probably stay that way!

Only in talking about the word. I’ve never heard the word in casual conversation otherwise.

Had a tablet , didn’t like it, returned it to the store. Don’t have a cell phone, no intention of ever having one. Truthfully I don’t understand cell phones nor people who can’t be away from the phone for a few minutes. When I am away from home I don’t want to be bothered by a phone, if someone calls my home and I am not there they can leave a message or phone back later. So the term phablet has never been uttered in my hearing , nor had I heard of it until I started reading this thread. To be honest it sounds pretty pretentious to me.
