Have you put up the tree and decorated for Christmas?

The new tree now has a Dragon as a topper, lights cascading down and garlands of Gold & Silver as is only proper for a Dragon. Also did the rest of the lights in the windows and garlands around the house. Mr. C[sup]1[/sup]. Moose has retired to the top of the secretary, he is far too big for this tree.

Ornaments are tomorrow probably.

What’s a good picture hosting & sharing site these days? Photobucket no longer is.

I guess I should add, I’m agnostic (recovering Roman Catholic) and my wife is Jewish but non-practicing. The decorating is pretty much by my daughter & myself.

[sup]1[/sup] C is for Christmas

We put the tree up the day before Thanksgiving. Adding the greenery, ribbons and poinsettias came the Sunday after. I’m planning on trailing garland on the porch and handicap ramp tomorrow.

I voted other. The indoor decorations are up, but the tree won’t go up til the weekend. I don’t do outdoor decos because there is no outlet in the front to plug in lights.

Picked up a wreath and a huge poinsettia today. Probably get the tree tomorrow, as there is a shortage, and set it up on the front porch in a bucket of water for another week. We keep our house too warm, so trees just don’t last if they are inside for too long.

Put up the window lights Sunday. Got the tree from Home Depot today. Will decorate it tomorrow after the branches descend a little.

We have never had a tree. We will light candles for Hanukah, however.

We’re not Jewish, but so will we.

Tree? What is a tree? Here in Tucson, the saguaros are sporting Santa hats.

Tradition (for us) is to put up Christmas decorations during the Thanksgiving holiday, but only after the meal.

We have a fake tree and it went up on Friday, and on Saturday I put out our lights while the gals decorated the tree. The tree and the lights take less than an hour, but the decorations can take a while to get finished. We have a lot of sentimental stuff on our tree instead of the normal Christmas-y ornaments. The majority of the time is in unpacking and repacking these, as many are art projects or other fragile stuff.

Since we now have 3 dogs in the house, I put up a pet pen around the tree to keep them out. The males tend to view every new object as something they must “claim”.

We put ours up a week before, and take it down a week after.

Christmas Tree is up and house is decorated.

Pics of the new tree, we have a Christmas Moose riding a dragon this year as the tree topper. This Christmas Moose is apparently the nephew of the large Mr. C. Moose we had topping the tree since 1994 or so.

I voted Other.

One tree is up, but not decorate. Some other decorations are up. It’s a work in progress.

My tree is up and only partially decorated. Other decorations will also be put out probably this weekend. There is no time in the evenings during the week.

Got my decorations up yesterday - garland and window clings, the small artificial tree made of a garland a ornament balls, and the three menorahs in the kitchen window.

Hey, I work retail, it’s amazing I have time even for that.

Voted “other”: I bought a cable yesterday with 188 LED “warm white” lights (19.99€) I wrapped loosely around the leafless (it’s winter, that is normal) lilac on our terrace. It does not blink! The old cable had become hopelessly tangled after ten years or so, some lamps did no longer work, and the color was too blue-ish and the glare was too blinding in some lamps. Now it looks nicer. We used to buy an Advent wreath like this, a couple of times even made it ourselves, but my wife is concerned about the fire risk, so we gave that up.
Some neighbours really go over the top with their bright and blinking decoration, that is typical Berlin. We like it discreet.

I answered “other” because I took a mini fake tree out of the closet and plugged it in. Not sure if that counts as decorating!

Bah Humbug!
