What’s that?
There’s a fetish for everything - maybe she can perform in a full-face mask that would at least provide plausible deniability?
And never get any tattoos. That’s how the Turkish/German actress Sibel Kekilli was identified as the porn star Dilara after she won the Golden Bear. If she didn’t have those tats, she might have been able to deny it. Or perform with temporary tattoos, and when it comes up, just show that she doesn’t have that tattoo.
Scott Adams (Dilbert) worked at a place which really, really looked like the Dilbert strip.
I did some work there. First day: “Did you know that Scott Adams (Dilbert) works here?” “We’re the model for the strip!. His cubicle is ####!”.
They were actually PROUD to be as screwed up as the strip.
I guess I was expected to take an hour to walk to that cube and back.
Incredible.
I know he quit his day job. I assume that was due to the income from the strip and merchandise, etc.
I noticed that the strip lost its edge shortly thereafter. At least it did in my opinion.
The “don’t quit the day job” has meaning beyond just income.
It can be your muse. ![]()
So can porn!
Isn’t that the one where you become a red piller and start spewing Pro-Trump CT?

I think you are mistaking it for the “Oculus Trap”…
You know, I picked up a copy of Hustler one day (Pre internet days). One of the ladies in there happened to be from the city I lived in.
Anyway, some days later I went to a bar… I’m like 99% sure, the girl tending bar was the same girl I saw in the mag.I even showed the mag to a couple of friends to confirm: “This is her, right?” To which, they were basically like: “Shit! I think it is!”.
As sure as we all were, not a single one of us had the balls to actually ask her “Hey, did you do a layout in Hustler?”
Because man, if you’re wrong, that would be really awkward. Hell, it would be awkward even if you were right.
I gotta believe that same psychology would work out in the OP’s friend’s situation.
I don’t know if it would help in a workplace scenario. After all, you showed the magazine to your friend. In the Internet-enabled workplace, it probably gets passed around as an email link until everyone in the company knows. Eventually someone in authority gets let in on the secret and they feel obligated to raise the issue because either 1) they have to protect their reputation from a real sex worker or 2) they have to prevent a lawsuit that the sex worker rumor will likely cause. It’s a closed door meeting that starts with “There’s an anonymous email circulating this link…”

Or 3) They want to blackmail her for sex.
I have a friend who has a successful career in an office dealing with clients, and who is also thinking about getting into doing sex work via webcam for some extra money and because well basically she enjoys the idea. She has friends in that business and they’re helping her get set up.
But she’s worried, of course!, that the chances of her getting “caught” (i.e. a client coming across her webcam site then telling on her) are higher than she estimates.
What do people here think about such a situation? On the one hand, you’d think people wouldn’t “snitch” because A. Likely they don’t mind since they’re watching the show, and B. Even if they’re inclined to for some reason, they’d have to be admitting they were watching, which there’s nothing wrong with but they themselves would seem to think there is if they’re considering “snitching.”
I pointed out (because she asked for my thoughts) that they could “snitch” anonymously, if they’re the type both to watch and feel bizarrely puritanically angry at people who do this kind of cam work. And, well, people are not logical.
What do you think about the various probabilities here?
If she likes her day job, internet prostitution is a bad idea. If she disagrees, tell her to google Alison Rapp. If, on the other hand, she likes being a whore, she should just quit the day job and do that full time.

There are those who would say that is not a whore, it is an actress.
And I’m sure she has her Screen Actor’s Guild Union Card. Right.
The folks who see a porn flick and think “actors playing roles” are probably an incredibly tiny percent.
Mask, Face model level makeup, or maybe Kabuki - now THAT would be different (or not. I am not gonna google that one. you do it.)

Hunh.

…
What do you think they are if not actors playing roles?
ISTM the only alternative is believing you’re watching real people truly behaving 100% naturally, a la candid camera but without the gag set-up. That it’s like watching security camera footage from a grocery store: just ordinary people going about their ordinary day. If you honestly believe most porn watchers are thinking that, well, … I don’t know what to say in response.
There *is *a difference between porn actors and most conventional actors. Namely the porn actors do all their own stunts. Lots of what conventional actors do is simulated although some do some of their own stunts.
Lots of the enthusiasm in porn is just as simulated as is the gunfire in a police-themed show. As is the appearance of non-stop action cutting from position to position without stopping for a breather or to rearrange the props.
I’m not maintaining that porn is high art. It’s pretty base. But the people on both sides of the camera are mostly doing a job for the money. Just like the guy who drives the cesspool truck. Heck on the Bizarro version of Discovery channel Mike Rowe could do a Dirty Jobs episode on making porn. It’s just as disagreeable as eel shucking, almost as slimy, but pays better. And the work’s mostly indoors.
I was referring to the most likely “mind set”.
Yes, the performances are mind-numbing (at least 30 years ago) and not likely to be mistaken for reality.
But the reason for watching porn, as far as I can tell, has nothing to do with judging the quality of the acting skills.
If you think the performers are to be appreciated for their acting…
Well, I’m sure there were some people who really did pick up Playboy for the writing…
I’ve never gone to a conventional movie in my life with the intention of evaluating the acting. I go to be told / shown a story.
To me the characters as personalities are almost irrelevant. What they *do *is relevant. And the live actor playing the character? That could be a CGI for all I care. I’ve never attended a movie or not attended a movie based on the actor(s) involved.
I readily admit I’m no cinema devotee. But I bet there’s a decent number of people like me out in audience land. Both audience land for ordinary movies and audience land for porn.
It takes all kinds to make a world. I think both you and I have made assumptions that are less universal than we think they are.
Well, I’m sure there were some people who really did pick up Playboy for the writing…

Over the years, Playboy featured some of The world’s most well-respected writers, and word is that they paid well.

Truly bad idea. I’ll just echo the good advice given above.

Wow.
