There was a stretch of time in the 60’s and 70’s and into the early 80’s that Playboy was noted for having excellent fiction and interviews. They interviewed a remarkable number of very influential and “serious” people back in the day.
It may make no difference to you but the OP is not talking about someone acting in an adult movie. The person he is talking about is thinking of going into cam model work. That is where a woman sits in front of a webcam and masturbates while interacting directly to people in a chat room. They send in tips if she does what they like.
I can’t tell whether you’re being sarcastic, but just in case, it was very well known.
The whole reason that Playboy made such a big splash when it came out was that it wasn’t just another nudie mag. It was a lifestyle publication that espoused living the good life, which included good literature, politics, and the benefits of the sexual revolution. It was culturally influential—or at least far more relevant than just a porn publication—for a few decades.
I was replying directly to usedtobe’s contention that the folks appearing on-screen in porn films were somehow not actors. Which as you say is/was a mild hijack of the OP’s topic about live cam workers.
Being an actor and being a sex worker are not mutually exclusive.
People appearing on-screen in porn films may be actors but they are also having sex for money. So it’s essentially the same thing for purposes of this thread regardless of whether or not they are actors.
It’s not like an actor who performs an on-screen murder, where the entire murder is simulated.
