HBO Rocks!!! (Flight of the Conchords)

I will give this some more time, but the opening story line did not really hold my interest. I found the music vaguely reminding me of Rocky Horror.

This show is playing in Canada now on The Movie Channel. The one tonight featured Business Time.

I’ve really liked these guys in the past and I was expecting a great deal from this new show…
… they didn’t let me down. Pretty funny stuff.

I’ve been enjoying the shit out of this show. Loved the part where Jermaine insists that the man in the restaurant with him and his date isn’t Brett. Also have to find a capture of that girlfriend/wolf painting.

I’ve also been digging the hell out of this show. It’s a bunch of weird, quirky fun. I like weird, quirky fun.

I thought it was funny right off, but in the epi or so I’ve seen since is seeming a bit repetitive, songs are similar, etc.

“Present.”

I love the accents. I wish I had a New Zealand accent. I’m going to miss Coco…very “realistically” cute girl she was.

I don’t care much for the comedy.

I LOVE the songs…and how they break into song and no one around them can hear them.

I liked the bit in the show from last night about buying outer space real estate. The agent had to break the bad news to Jemaine. It went something like this…

Agent: Jemaine, I have some bad news about your sun.
Jemaine: What?
Agent: It supernovaed and now it is nothing but some swirling gases and the start of a black hole.
Jemaine: Oh no. When did this happen?
Agent: About 7.5 million years ago.
Jemaine: (sigh) What a waste of 50 bucks.

Ohh… you can watch all of episode 4 here

“If That’s What You’re Into” is the best love song I’ve ever heard.

In the buff
Being lewd
Doing stuff
With the food

Yummy.
I recently gave her the bienville “Cutest Girl on T.V. Award”.

Yeah count me in too. How many episodes did Tenacious D get on HBO? Hopefully FotC can surpass that number, which I think was only 6 or so…

I really enjoyed it.
Brett is smokin’, which also helps.

I think if you like this, you would also enjoy The Mighty Boosh.

What got me about that song was that Jermaine, er, I mean, Hiphopopotamus actually had some nice flow, in a Chali 2na sort of way. Of course, Rhymenoceros is no slouch, either.

I’ve been enjoying the show. . .actually liking the comedy better than the songs, in opposition to spooje.

How funny are the wardrobes? They both look like they got them at thrift stores, but Jemaine is totally cool and Bret wears that shit with wolves and lions on it – all the time. His painting looked like the shirts he buys.

Their “fan” is hilarious. She asks these questions like “is the doorman here 24 hours a day?” like it’s just natural to ask that. On the episode where they kicked Bret out of the band, you could see her instantly sour on him, and then become enamored with Jemaine in about 10 seconds.

Their manager is funny.

From this week:

“You can’t put a leash on the j dog”.

“Who’s the j dog?”

“That’s me. It’s common in street language to take the first letter of your first name and put it before the word dog.”

This show has made me so thankful for TiVo. We’re watching the episodes at least two times, and the songs more than that, because we notice something new about them every time.

I love the show too, although I think that the best songs are the ones I’d already heard on their HBO special. The robot song might be new, and I like that one. My husband had to show me who Daft Punk was.

The New Zealand posters in Murray’s office are great.

The Flight of the Conchords website is pretty funny:
" Problem with Website discovered. A catch 22 type dilemna has struck kiwi band Flight of The Conchords in relation to updating the band news on their website. Members of the band (Jemaine and Bret) have noticed that whenever there are doing things that could be reported on the website, they are too busy to update the website."

I saw in the news today HBO picked up Flight of the Conchords for another year.

Oh good, glad to now it’s worth waiting for.
We won’t get it in New Zealand until mid September!

We’re getting America’s Got Talent now.
There is something seriously wrong with that, but I’m too bloody traumatised to deal with it right now.

Is nobody going to mention “Foux da fa fa?”

Jus d’orange!
Boef!
Jacques Cousteau (holds up a frozen fish)

“Parlez-vous le Francais?”
“…”
“Parlez-vous le Francais?”
“…uh…non”

That was a great one.

Also, hooray to a new season! I never got my hopes up for more, and every episode seems to be a bonus. Gotta love HBO, those guys really know how to nurture a good show.
