I really like this one, too.
The Obama’s released a statement on Ramis’ passing and it’s quite moving, I thought (and I love the Caddyshack reference):
Oddly, Stripes was on one of the cable channels this weekend. (And so was Meatballs, which he also wrote and which is really good.)
I just watched that scene on YouTube, and the really funny line is Ernie Hudson’s “Tell 'em about the Twinkie.”
That one’s kinda fucked up, if you think about it.
According to this article, Murray visited him before he died.
Heh, you’re right. A job’s a job, I guess.
And here’s a suspiciously similar gag in the New Yorker.
I just read that Year One was completely panned, and a financial failure.
I actually thought it was hilarious.
It makes me sort of sad to think that when his time comes, with all the other work he’s done, people will remind each other who Ernie Hudson was with the words “the black Ghostbuster.”
It was some time before I realized Groundhog Day was even a real thing. It’s such a weird idea.
Why? It’s the simplest description of the role for which the vast majority of people would instantly recognize him.
I’m more disturbed by the implication that the mere mention of race implies racism by default. Nobody got upset when Jim Carrey was best known as “the white guy on ‘In Living Color.’”
It still amuses me that Bill Murray’s black best friend in Broken Flowers was named “Winston.”
It’s crazy to me that their greatest work together was during a period that ended their friendship (though unrelated to the work itself).
Yes, I thought it very sad that Ramis & Murray’s friendship apparently ended after “Groundhog Day”, one of - if not the - best things either did in their professional lives.
and it made me quite happy to hear that Bill Murray did indeed talk to Harold Ramis again before he died. ( this is all pretty irrational to have such feelings about people I don’t even know, but that’s how I feel)
In the comments of one of the Fark threads, that one was posted, along with a rather nice one featuring Egon and Slimer. I can’t find a source for the pic though.
I don’t think it’s irrational. It’s a situation just about everyone can relate to.
