He says the peacock was a vampire

Oh sure. Like roaming the neighborhood at night with a baseball bat and flashlight is a bad thing now.

When baseball bats and flashlights are outlawed, only outlaws will have them. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure. Discriminate against the peacocks. They can’t have bats and flashlights, because they don’t have opposable thumbs.

Herakles.

Herankles were behind her head, and a fine sight it was.

Yes, but if they had opposible thumbs, then they’d annoy our feline overlords.

Still wrong, it’s Ἥρα + κλέος!

Umm, can you cut and paste a few relevant paragraphs so I can also know wht the fuck you are ranting about?

And since we’re at it, how isn’t this RO? Heck, what’s the point of angrily pitting a guy who gives every appearance of being mentally ill?

Melek Taus, I thought?

But considering he’s used as a theme in Top 10, and considering the fan base Alan Moore’s got, I reckon you’d be wrong.

Because it’s funny.

So that’s why those peacock eggs tasted so strange.

It was spelled “Malik Taus” when Robert E. Howard (and other pulp writers in that Kalem circle) used it back in the 30’s. That’s probably where Alan Moore got it from, even if he mangled the spelling.

Malik Taus…?

Ah. *Melech Tavas * - Hebrew for “Peacock King.” Funny, these Semitic languages.

I blame television.

Having spent a good portion of my childhood getting chased by evil, evil peacocks trying to peck me while visiting my grandparents’, I for one believe the guy. I wouldn’t be at all surprised that the peacock was a vampire. They’re evil, evil creatures. (“poor, defenseless” my ass. those birds are mean)

… although I’d imagine one would look mighty odd with fangs.

My mum used to keep peacocks. They are evil bastards, and by fuck they’re loud bastards at 6 in the morning as well.

In other news, the body of the euthanized peacock has mysteriously vanished, and all other animals at the shelter have come down with pernicious anemia.

Iron-deficiency anemia, surely…or does a vampiric peacock drain intrinsic factor?

But they’re tasty!
