I think the topic is worthy of serious discussion, and rather than sidetrack this thread any further I’ve opened a new thread about it in GD, if anyone’s interested.
The opening movie is sweet as hell. Way better than CoD4, IMO. I like the intersplicing of real footage with that funky animation.
By the way, I’ve played about 6 matches in Matchmaking so far (with an abnormal kill/death ratio) and this game is already better than Call of Duty 4.
My lone complaint (so far) is that we don’t have the amount of factions, and therefore, the amount of variation in Call of Duty 3. Vehicles are back, which is badass, but I’d like to see more vehicle variety. I haven’t got too deep into it, so some of this stuff may already be there.
Hand grenades in the solo campaign are annoying as hell.
- The game follows the COD4 rule of having to cross the “invisible line” to stop spawning bad guys in the area, but
- If you actually move close, they get grenade happy and fling them about like monkies throwing poo. It’s hardly possible to get within 20 metres of a trench without getting naded to hell.
I just realized that I do not enjoy playing this game whatsoever. I think I’ll go back to CoD4, if I can look past the constant freezing problems. Oh, and does anyone know if the flamethrower is in multiplayer? If so, at what level is it unlocked? I haven’t seen anyone using it in any games.
Yeah, wait until you kick it up a notch in difficulty. It practically rains grenades if you stay in any spot for a dozen seconds.
What freezing problems? What are you playing it on? The flamethrower comes much later (at level 64, I think) and I’ve seen someone with it. It’s really badass.
The best weapon in the game might be the Type 100. Seriously, if you don’t play with that gun, you should start doing so. Now.
Submachine guns are overpowered.
Sometimes at the end of multiplayer games, it kind of just hangs up. The sound hiccups repeatedly, then the game completely locks up. I’ve had to force-manually restart a few times because of this. Maybe I just have to clean out my PS3 disc drive. I was having the same issue with CoD4.
Perhaps. That’s odd. The only game that locks up for me (on my 360) is Civilization Revolution.
I’ve had the schedule from hell the last week or so and haven’t gotten to play this at all since the second day I got it.
That said, this weekend I’m going to visit an old friend, and I was planning on bringing this game with me. Does anyone know if you can play online competitive (e.g. team deathmatch and free for all) with two players on the same console in a split screen?
You won’t be able to do this. People would abuse this to rack up XP with a few friends.
It would be sweet, though.
Thanks. Too bad…we’ll just have to play offline and run around shooting each other. Probably for the best since I suck and he’s never played.
I do question the logic, though. Can’t you do Halo online in split screen? And how would being on the same console being a bigger advantage than just playing in the same game with friends over the internet?
Halo is better. Duh.
The problem is how Call of Duty does its leveling.
