Anyone got it yet? It’s a good, fun game. I havn’et played the regular game yet, but I have played some multiplayer, which is a fun experience.
The single player is supposed to be annoyingly brief, which has been holding me back from purchasing this. I’ll probably rent it at least, since I liked both COD2 and COD3 a great deal. I just have little interest in the multiplayer part, so having a short campaign really kills the deal for me.
I just picked up Super Mario Galaxy and The Orange Box. I can’t afford another game, I mean there’s only so many hours in the day and I do have to spend eight of them at work. I’m thinking about picking it up after the holidays.
I’ve gotten it. I generally prefer the multiplayer part of the game, so I haven’t finished the missions yet. However, my six year old told me yesterday that he completed it all. We’ve only had it for about a week.
I play online as YukonPete.
I play as I Dixon Tufar I.
Kinda sums it up for me.
To be fair, though, your six-year-old can probably kick my electronic butt, most days. My eight YO routinely pwns me on Dead or Alive 4.
I picked up a copy the other day. I haven’t played the single player campaign past the training mission yet specifically because I read that it was so short. I’m saving it for a nice rainy weekend or something like that. I haven’t played it online, either.
The two-player split-screen is fun as hell, though. And the game looks absolutely gorgeous - better than anything I’ve ever seen. Then again, it’s only the second game I’ve owned for my Xbox 360, so I haven’t exactly seen everything that’s out there these days.
I know two people who’ve bought it, and they both rave about it. Apparently the online play is outstanding. I just finished Assassin’s Creed, so now I’m deciding between this and Mass Effect.
Have it. I’ve played mostly multi-player but a bit of the campaign.
Multi-player is good. The achievements aren’t unbelievably hard to get which was an issue when I played BF2 (2 HOURS in AA guns?!?!?!). I’ve played 15 hours so far and am sitting about level 30 of 55. I have the PC version and evidently “Prestige Mode” was booted from the PC version. On the others you have the opportunity to restart from the beginning with a special prestige ribbon instead of your rank.
Good variety of options as far as weaponry. No vehicles, sorry BF2 fans. I like the different game modes, Headquarters is my favorite. You have to capture a flag then hold it for a minute. If you die while your team holds the flag you can’t respawn until the other team captures the flag or your minute is up. Holding the flag can get you big points.
You have things called “Perks” that you unlock along the weapons. You only get to choose three but they include “longer sprint” and “steady aim” as long with some goofy ones like one “Last Stand” where you pull out your pistol before you die to get a couple last shots off before you expire.
Not too much crap so far. People are a bit grenade happy but you only get one without the perks (two more if you have a grenade launcher). Weapons are pretty equal and as I mentioned, aren’t too hard for casual players to unlock anyway. The perk Martyrdom is causing some problems on crowded maps. With this one you automatically drop a grenade when you die. Causes some SERIOUS issues on maps that are crowded and the server has Friendly Fire on.
Those are my observations so far. It’s funny, I have some games where I go 15/5 K:D and some where I go 3/18.
Martyrdom is really a bitch when it’s crowded and you’re playing Team Hardcore.
So far, the game is enjoyable, but there are a little too many military lovers/weekend warrior wannabes out there.
Which console do we have the game running on?
PS3. You?
I’m playing it on the PC. I love this game. Yes, the single player is short, but the arcade mode challenges you to go through again and do better. I want to see if anybody can better my score of 63570 on the Mile High Club mission in arcade mode.
My character IkeWitt is a Colonel II in multiplayer. I generally suck but have some hot streaks every once in a while. Also, Martyrdom rocks when used with the Sonic Boom perk. I’ve taken out as many as three others after I have died. I maxed out the Martyrdom challenge pretty quick.
While the campaign is a little short, it is easily the most enjoyable FPS I’ve ever played (Bioshock is a close second). It feels like you are inside a movie. I’ve gone back and replayed the AC-130 mission about ten times now and I still get a kick out of firing the big guns.
About the ending:
I have never been so mad at a video game character as when the big bad shot my teammates while I was forced to watch helplessly. When Price slid that pistol over and I unloaded on him, it was one such a feeling of relief that I could take that asshole out myself.
I’m liking the MP, but I don’t have a mic so I have a hard time coordinating with the rest of the team. I have a lot of fun with the deathmatch mode. Anyone have any suggestions for a good mic?
Martyrdom doesn’t work anymore. Everyone expects it now and moves out of the way. Unless they don’t, but you can beat those people anyway. Ditto for Last Stand, only it’s worse since everyone sees the guy fall onto his back so they put another round into him for the kill. I certainly wouldn’t drop Deep Impact or Steady Aim for either.
Nevermind Sonic Boom for Perk 2. Stopping Power is just way too good. A burst from the m16 while you’re using Stopping Power will drop someone pretty much instantly. Combine this with the red dot sight and you’ve just learned how to go 4:1 on long range maps.
Call of Duty 4 is based on the Quake 3 engine, so lock your frame rate at 125 FPS or even 333 FPS to freak out the physics engine. Ridiculous hopping and diving results.
Oh yeah, don’t forget to abuse the mouse wheel until they patch it. Nothing like a pistol, m14, or g3 firing faster than a full auto.
Stun grenades are OP. P90 is OP.
cg_fov “80” = win
What do you mean? How do you use this exploit?
Just guessing, but I think he means bind the fire weapon key to the mouse wheel and spin the wheel to shoot really fast. I’ll try it in the morning when I get off work, but I probably won’t use it much. I can get a pretty good ROF with the left mouse button and I want to try a suggestion I read to set the melee attack and grenade throw binds to the wheel.
Bind “+attack” to your mouse wheel and you’ll empty the clip of a semi-auto weapon (g3, m14, pistols) in about 1 second when you spin it. There isn’t a cool down between the shots, so it fires each time your wheel clicks, which is really fast.
Right now I do have grenade throw bound to the mouse wheel button. I’ll have to try the knife attack with the scroll though. I often get pwned up close. This might solve that problem.
